Just got hit with a bolt out of the Blue this morning, reading a local newspaper i saw a short piece about a friend who i have known since we were both 15 year old's playing for the same football team. he dropped dead in June in a local pub suffering a second heart attack in two and a half years, this must have happened when i was on holiday so i had no idea until this morning, would have been a massive shock anyway but finding out he could have been dead for up to 6 weeks has really knocked me for six today, just want to play a song for him if it's ok, God bless ya Dave.

Condolences, SOB.  It's not a good way to learn such news but I have found it increasingly the case here even with

people I thought of as more than acquaintances and whose family knew my address and phone number.  The latest

friend I lost was just 66 and Alzheimer's took his life.  The lesson to us all is to enjoy each day, love those around us

and do good deeds whilst we are able.

You are so right Deejay, it just seems everytime i pick a newspaper up now i see someone i knew has died, especially the last 10 years, so many friends and ex work colleagues have gone....think i am feeling my age a bit today.

If one gets to know a lot of people - and many of us do, naturally - as we grow older, the chances of such bad news escalate.

Yesterday was the third anniversary of the passing of a dear friend of mine.  He was being treated for the BIg C and then got

an infection that could not be quelled and took him.  Again, not an old guy - early sixties.
