With parents dependent on me and living with me, baby last week and a hefty mortgage (3600 pm), I dont think I go full-time/active duty. I dont mind serving anywhere (Army/Navy/Marines/Airforce). Just not sure how to do it at this point. @@Noears711XI : Thank you and all the veterans for your service. We are forever in your debt... ozziesdark and Noears711XI 2 Awards

If so, OCS is the way to go. Regardless, expect to be gone 3-6 months for basic/A-school right off the bat. Being from Irvine, if you went Marine Corps, training would be right down the road from you at MCRD San Diego and Camp Pendleton. Edited August 29, 2014 by DeemerXI ozziesdark and azzkikr 2

Those guys are pretty cool and more laid back than the reserves. Call some of your local guard units to get a feel for what they are looking for. They will be happy to talk to you. Don't trust what a normal recruiter you would find in the mall tells you. Call around to reserve and guard units and ask them directly. It's also a good way to build a relationship within the unit. Just remember when you call these units you will be remembered if you sound like a moron, so have some prepared questions and speak well padawan LOL. Good luck to you! Oh, and try to go in as an officer if you can. Tell them this is your goal, if in fact it actually is. Officer = more money and less crappy duties. Edited August 30, 2014 by codpiece azzkikr 1 Awards

I am guessing that, unlike our pitiful excuse for a government, yours isn't discharging full-time service personnel in the hope that the butcher, baker and candlestick-maker in uniform part-time can do an equivalent job. Mind you, I'd pay good money to see an ISIS ar**hole despatched with a candelabrum! azzkikr 1 Awards
