My son has now gone to a old Leica film camera. Have to admit I prefer film even with the Nikon set up I am using in digital, I greatly feel my photos were more true to life with my old N90s with Agfa ultra 100 color film and a lot more dynamic when playing Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Smeggie, Olive, Astronomer and 1 other 4 Awards

When I go back through and I look at my film work there is just so much more feeling and warmth in it. Have not been able to capture that same feeling yet with digital. I have a Nikon scanner that I have scanned my negatives with. Those when converted to digitel still look better than those shot with my D810. There but s just a better feeling with them and how it captures the image. Leadfinger and Astronomer 2 Awards

I have a number of photography books and the ones with images from film have a certain personality to them, for want of a better term. Digital can be almost clinical in it's reproduction. You can get filters for Lightroom, DXO, Photoshop etc. that mimic the looks of specific film types, but what's the point? I got into photography fairly recently and later in life, but I'd like to get a good film camera someday and really learn to work it and get to know how to capture the best shots with various films. bds1961 1 Awards

I started out with Cannon film cameras then switched over to Nikon in the early 90s. I got real lucky, was doing a lot of discovery work for some construction litigation through out the west cost and the attorneys let me get what ever I needed to take the photos with the understanding I would be allowed to keep the equipment afterwards. Ended up with some great lens that added a lot to what is possible with a camera. My favorite body is still my N90s with the control back added to it. It still has some capabilities that are not available on the digitalis so far. If they do come back with some good films I will pull it back out and play with it. Film you work hard post shoot to get what you want were as digital is all post shoot. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Awards

Years ago I saw a interview with the curator of photography at the Smithsonian. She had brought up a point that has really stuck with me. She showed this picture of a young black child crying outside. A really nice photograph. She brought up the point that if it had been taken on a digital camera that the photographer probably would have erased it at the time thinking that it wasn't a good photo. Thus losing a part of that persons life and history through photography. After seeing that I never delete anything I shoot unless it is really bad as in completely out of focus are way out of the exposure range. I have found what she said to be true. Pictures I have shot thinking they sucked at the time look so much better and interesting at a later date. By that ends she pointed out that we are losing the real photographs that truly depict our lives and history. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Leadfinger, BoomSlang, Astronomer and 1 other 4 Awards

I saw reports of a snowy owl spotted not too far from my home. I drove to the general area and within a few minutes, there it was sitting on top of a utility pole, completely unconcerned with my presence. It had been reported that it has a bad or missing left eye, and that report was correct, but there was no discharge and it was certainly healthy. Looks like it's an old injury and it's been thriving. The camera is a Canon 70d, and the lens is a Sigma 150-600mm from their "Contemporary" line. The uncompressed image is finely detailed.
