So i have an old DVD that has old operational pictures I took when in the Army back around 2006-2008. Unfortunately, i found the disc in the bottom of a tote and its taken some damage. I can open the disk and see the information on it but when i select all the content of the disk and drag it to my PC it locks up and stops responding. Any tips on how i can fix this issue and get these pictures?

Thanks...

As long as when you hold it to the light you can not see scratches thru it you can try different methods but basically you nee to polish ...

most common thing to try is tooth paste and a soft rag or any other type of compound.....If you have a gaming store that sells old gaming systems like N64 and such they do it as well

Also try one by one. Or at least only a little at a time.

Just try each method and see if it works after each one. Start with cleaning. If it doesn't work, wax. If that doesn't work, then do the sanding and rubbing compound.

Buff with a microfiber cloth until it is clear. Might take like 10 min or so but you can see it as the rubbing compound works its magic.

This video can help

I have saved a lot of discs using McGuires plastic polish followed by there cleaner. Haven't found anything that works better. Can be purchased at almost any auto store.

Unfortunately it is also possible the dvd layer itself may be damaged. Excessive sunlight, heat, or just age. Lost some things from dvdrs even tho they were kept safe.
