New egg and amazon is what im using as a price reference. The I7 2600 is listing as $199 refurbished and new is $398.00. The 3770 is $450 new. I would like to consider refurbished but when i looked at refurbished gtx 980's the fine print pretty much said that A customer had an issue, sent this item back, we tested it and everything was fine so we're reselling it. So i wouldnt want to risk the hassle of buying refurbished.

another option would be a build with a small processor for now until you can save up for the bad azz processor

this example would have you sitting pretty and around the 1k budget minus the big processor

Geez, I could get rich if I sell stuff on Ebay or Amazon or what ever.

But, if you are willing to spend 300 bucks on a CPU, just save your money. Those prices are plain stupid high and for a few dollars more you can get the 6th generation of Intel.

I heard Micro Center is good and as Mule said, don't go there if you have hardly a budget, because you end up with a loan ;)

AMD right now, is a NAY. I can look for you for a nice set? I will test it and inform you. I also have an eye on a LGA1150 motherboards for cheap. I am sure I can help you out, but with lesser prices.

Cheers,

Ray

that gtx980 is overkill too .it will coast as much as all the other components you will buy and really doesnt match that puny cpu for that hungry gpu-but i understand im waiting for major price drops  to get a gtx960 or hopefuly gtx970 but there still too expensive.its fkn ridiculous/sucks being poor

hey   howbut the gtx1060 lower power hog and  its cheaper  then the 980 and is very undrated-
