Chopper blades sag while idling. Unless you wanna step out like Vic Morrow, I'd recommend it. Rule of thumb, if you walk up to a shut down helicopter and your head barely clears the end of the stopped blade, you still might want to crouch while boarding. loaderXI 1 Awards

I landed to refuel and he got really close to the rotor disk as I was shutting down. Once I stopped rotating I showed him that he no clearance at all as the blades flap at slow speed a lot. loaderXI and TheLastColdBeer 2 Awards

Dinky little things, one gas well, one control room/galley, & a helipad the size of a card table. Flew out in a little Bolkow, no creature comforts. And yes, you kept your head down. Pilot didn't cut the throttle much, touch & go. loaderXI and RobMc 2 Awards

No helmet without a chinstrap connected. Eye protection is highly recommended. Stay away until instructed by the crew to approach (they will usually come to you to tell you). Small tree branch strikes will ground a helo in 10 seconds flat. Duck a lil' bit ... and stay the hell away from the tail rotor. Edited May 4, 2021 by EastCoast50 RobMc 1 Awards
