We dont use rasist words here because 1st off it's not right to and 2nd it's offensive to most. I guess the word "god" can be just AS offenseive to some people. So their rights should be respected. The word "god" does not have the same meaning to everyone AND assuming that it does will put you in a different state of understanding.
The root-meaning of the word "god" (from Gothic root gheu; Sanskrit hub or emu, "to invoke or to sacrifice to") is either "the one invoked" or "the one sacrificed to." From different Indo-Germanic roots (div, "to shine", "give light" or "to implore"). Predating that. It is believed the the word "god" is a misunderstanding that lead to a mistranslation of the Khemitic word "NTR"(Nature).
With the word "god" having so many meanings, today and in history, to so many people I can understand why some people may not want it said in schools to their impressionable children.
Today we are a little too argumentative about the words we and others say. Words have power but only the power you give them.
