My reply was simply sarcasm and not intended to turn this into a political discussion, but your response speaks volumes. I'm happy to hear things are running so smoothly up there.

When you spend all of your time arguing with people about American politics, and spend no time even thinking about politics in your own country, you may live in Canada.

If that's true would you mind looking up tomorrow's winning lottery numbers in California and PM'ing them to me? We still have 2 days left in 2012. -

You're right Sparty, you deserve more medals. I just put in a request for you and hopefully it will come through soon. As soon as they make the COD2 Douche Baggery medal I will recommend you for that one as well. -

Spanky usually has his own head up his ass. Does that count as strange? -
I never really saw the association between a sponge and pain. They're usually very soft and people cram them between their but cheeks to wash out the butt funk, or up their yoohoo to keep from getting pregnant. Uh, nevermind I can now see the association.

Father & Daughter Go Through Ice
little_old_man replied to vipersniper's topic in General Discussion
That's a great idea, but if you don't somehow manage to get yourself out of the water in about 5 minutes, you probably won't have the strength to pull yourself up. Hypothermia happens almost immediately, and the water doesn't have to be near freezing for it to kill you quickly. Back in the late 70's right after I graduated high school I used to race Laser sail boats on San Francisco bay. The water temperature in the ocean around here is 57 to 59 degrees year round and I managed to flip my boat over in choppy water directly under the Golden Gate Bridge on an out going tide. I was wearing a life jacket but not a wet suit, and normally it's no big deal to flip the boat over and continue sailing, but the water was so cold that I had no upper body strength to pull myself back on the boat. It took almost an hour and I drifted about 2 miles out to sea before I managed to get myself back in the boat. The only thing that saved me from freezing was keeping my upper body out of the water on the boat. From that point forward I always wore a wet suit and it made a big difference. If I were to ever go ice fishing again I would probably wear a light wet suit under my clothes. They could save your life, and they keep you pretty damn warm even if you don't get wet. I have a pair of wet suit gloves that I wear when we visit snow in the mountains, and they're much lighter and warmer than regular snow gloves. -
Father & Daughter Go Through Ice
little_old_man replied to vipersniper's topic in General Discussion
I remember driving my jeep out on frozen lakes when I was a teenager. Although the ice was over a foot thick, falling through is always in the back of your mind. I never cared much for ice fishing anyway. It's always too fucking cold to enjoy it. -
My Newest Hobby, Fish..........
little_old_man replied to little_old_man's topic in General Discussion
Right now I'm planning on making what they call a FOWLR tank (Fish Only With Live Rock). There are three kinds of tanks, 1. Reef Tank 2. FOWLR and 3. Fish Only. I like the looks of a reef tank but they are really sensitive to any change in temperature and water conditions, not to mention that a little chunk of live coral can cost $100 and to make a complete reef you need dozens of them if not more. One little problem with the water or if you have a power outage that lasts for a few hours and you can lose a few thousand bucks in coral. Fish can cost from $20 to $300, but they are easier to take care of and you can make a combo tank with less sensitive corals that look almost as nice. It's a work in progress and I'll probably change my mind many times how I ultimately want it to look. -
So I've been looking for something different to get into lately, and I've finally settled on aquariums. Over 30 years ago I was heavily into keeping several salt water aquariums and loved it, but marriage, kids and all of the other stuff that life throws at you made it difficult to find time for. Three years ago my wife took my daughter to the county fair and came home with a goldfish as a prize. My wife keeps it in a bowl in the kitchen window and religously changes the water at least once a week and it's still going strong. A few months ago my youngest daughter decided she wanted some goldfish of her own, so I got her a 7.9 gallon tank and she has a few bug eyed goldfish in it. I'm not sure why but after setting up her little tank, I kind of got the bug again. With the horrible economy people are practically giving away used aquariums for pennies on the dollar, so I found this 30 gallon tank online and set it up in my family room with some salt water fish. These kinds of tanks are far more difficult to set up and maintain, but the end result is worth it as long as you are patient. You can't just fill a tank with sea water then throw a bunch of expensive fish in it. You start off slow with a couple small fish until the tank gets established with good bacteria, then slowly (over weeks and months) add additional fish. This 30 gallon has been set up for about 7 weeks and is almost ready for more fish. Being the obsessive person that I am, I knew that this 30 gallon just wouldn't be big enough, so I did some searching and found a 150 gallon. It's been set up for 2 weeks, and is big enough to add just about any species of fish that I want. Ulitmately you want the tank environment to mimic their natural environment as much as possible. In nature, the rocks and sea floor are covered with bacteria and little creatures that help keep the water clean, and that's what you want in a tank. They call the rock "live rock" and it's covered with little sponges and other critters that help eat the waste from the fish and keep the water clean. After several months of slowly adding new fish and other creatures, I hope both of my salt water tanks wind up looking like these. They will be full of live corals, fish, anenomes, sponges, crabs and snails. If I ever disappear from gaming for a long period of time just figure that I sealed my house off and turned it into one large aquarium.

How Did You Invent Or Come Up With Your In-Game Name
little_old_man replied to Cross's topic in General Discussion
A few years ago when I first started playing COD with my son and his friends, they would always get really pissed off when I would constantly beat them. They would always say they lost to some little old man, and when I finally started playing online it seemed like the logical name. I'm not little or an old man at 52, but it seems like a good fit. -

I had the same problem a while back when installing on my office PC. Every time I went back into game after logging off it said unknown soldier, and all of the other settings went back to the default as well. Finally (not sure what I did) after several tries it all finally stuck and is ok. I would suggest just keep changing your name when you start up the game and eventually it will stay. Different operating systems have an impact on the saved settings for COD2.

New Map Rotation Cod2 Tdm 12/22/12
little_old_man replied to Ruggerxi's topic in Call of Duty 2's Call Of Duty 2 Discussion
Thanks for the new rotation boss. We still have some issues with the DM server though. Some of the maps that were to be deleted are still there and that little shottie map (Dead End) is all weapons and a spawn killing mess. Is there any chance we can delete Cheesey, make Dead End shotties only, delete the current pistol map (Containers) and add The Office as our only pistol map?
