There is a current problem with the DM1 server and redirect. Halfway through downloading a map at around 500KB/sec, the download speed drops to 11/12KB/sec so there is no chance of getting the map for around 45 minutes! Also, when it is time to download the final file in the sequence, usually 260 bytes in size, it just hangs there and does nothing requiring a restart of ones machine after which the map will load normally. If it was some random network problem, it would not happen with every map as it seems to do. I'm going to grab the archives above...

I have saved a packet on some new games today. The sale runs until 10am PST so that is 1800 GMT. I have Doom, Far Cry 5 and Hell Let Loose queued so the downloads will take about seven days (I'm not kidding! The max rate here is 600KB/sec). I finished the reinstallation of BF4 earlier. Downloading via Origin took three days! Enjoy!

What baldie said. You can dip in and out of games as often as you like. It is hard to motivate oneself when suffering depression, even doing things one enjoys, so be gentle on yourself and take care.

Does Air France fly to Antarctica?

Top European destination for me was France to which I would travel every day to work via Eurotunnel. Then there was Germany - several trips to the Rhineland including Cologne and one to Berlin where my son got food poisoning in the Marriott hotel restaurant! That was a truly shitty trip! Travelled to/through Belgium and Netherlands at various times. Long haul just a couple of stays with relatives in Hong Kong. Loved the place before the so-called "democracy activists" (anarchists) ruined it as a destination. (Nobody who attacks cops gets my respect.) My future ambitions focus on the Iberian peninsula. I am learning Spanish and would like to visit Gibraltar and maybe friends in Seville before heading over to the Algarve to see family there. However, my Overseer (wife) says she won't get on a plane...

Johnny Dos Memorial Event Saturday January 25th
DEEJAYKEG replied to Ruggerxi's topic in Community News
I once, tearfully, said to the widow of my best mate - killed by lymphoma at 46 years of age - that, when a close friend dies, they take a bit of you with them. She replied, "Yes, they do, but they also leave a bit of themselves with you." I pray the chunk that Dos left you helps you through this sad time mate. -

I have invited Beers too. Don’t have an email for SOB. Anyone friends with him on Facebook? -
Fierce via Amazon. They delivered it on Thursday and have now cut the price by £28! Such great timing!
-
I bought a Fierce Crusader PC with a Ryzen 3 4Ghz, RX 580 8GB GPU, and 16GB RAM with 1TB hard drive. I did have to cut corners to keep the price down but it is a solid base to build from and, hopefully, get me back fully into the games. I’m copying a load of configs etc onto a removable hd I have in the old tower and I’ll then put that in an enclosure so the new machine can access them. See you in game soon!

Goodbye, my friend. Thank you for all the laughter, fun and support over the years. A generous soul who will be greatly missed by us all. RIP.

I'm sorry to say, @baldie , that the company has let me down badly. It promised to save my config and price for seven days but, when I returned to it five days later, I found both had been dumped. I have let Alan, the manager, know that I shall not be doing business with them after all and have now found an alternative similar system for £500 less!

Can/have/don't want to this time.

That was easy! Think I have found it already! Thanks Baldie! Just have to add an external optical drive and we're in business, I think...

The time has come to choose the successor to the gaming slab that is my PC monolith - the Medion Erazer. I have been looking at custom builds by companies like PC Specialist and Fierce. There is one under £600 I like by Fierce but, if I spent £300 more I could get a superior machine from the other seller with 16GB RAM. What are your thoughts on Ryzen processors, Radeon RX 570 GPUs and PSU wattage (I have been alarmed to find many around 450w when I have fitted a new 600w to my ten year-old PC)? What are these custom drives? SSHDs?

I'm sorry I misunderstood Pengy after the period of silence/ceasefire when he said "shoot" and I set off the C4... FIVE KILLS and the server crashed! He followed up with "Not at each other!" too late! Man that was FUNNY! -
The hospital where I had heart surgery is just to the right of the bridge on the right of the wheel. Unfortunately, I have just made a formal complaint as I have received zero treatment for my stroke in 13 months since I left the hospital. How disabled would I be if I had received rehab??!

Sad to report the passing of Cream's drummer and co-founder who passed away peacefully last night. https://www.standard.co.uk/showbiz/celebrity-news/ginger-baker-death-cream-drummer-and-cofounder-dies-peacefully-in-hospital-aged-80-a4247296.html

Greetings. We thought it would be a good idea to go away for a short break to celebrate my resurrection, a year ago on 1 October (for any scratching their heads and saying "WTF?", this was when I suffered two cardiac arrests and died. The clever medics at the district hospital zapped me and brought me back to life and then I had major surgery in London). She knew fishing would have to feature so agreed to the hire of a little cottage on a farm in the West Country that has four fishing lakes in the grounds. I am a bit of a fan of Shimano tackle (yes, the pricy brand) so saw an opportunity to buy another rod. This time, I have bought a 2.70m (9 feet) Winkle Picker with three tips from 0.5oz to 1.5oz. I have some little cage swimfeeders to use with this and will respool the Shimano baitrunner reels with suitably strong line. The farmer has carp in excess of 20lbs stocked in at least one of the lakes so I may manage a new PB! I'm taking a selection of groundbaits and additives down. The Cats Meat Gravy stinks and the fish love it! I hope to be posting some fishy pictures in due course (middle of next month).

Is there an end to the universe or does it go on for infinity?

We have a friend who is heavily tattooed on both arms. I am pleased we managed to persuade him not to get facial tattoos as that spells one thing here: unemployment.

To those contemplating doing this to their bodies in the UK, may I ask that you give blood first because you will be unable to do so for four months afterwards. The same goes for body piercing. The number of donors has slumped over here - this has been attributed to the growth of the tattoo business. I was grateful for the six units I got during and after surgery! Personally, outside a very narrow cultural context e.g. Maori in New Zealand, I don't find this "ink" attractive and I don't understand why people have it done.
