  7. Lots of great advice. Thanks very much!!! I'll be taking some time to explore these options and educating myself on pain management. Quickly apparent is to get back on the treadmill and drop some poundage. Thanks again all...

  10. Yo Captain: Can you shed any light on this?? WINDSOR, Ontario – Last month, Bob Dechert, a senior aide to Canada's foreign minister, was dispatched to Detroit with an important diplomatic mission: to stop a highly-annoying noise. The so-called Windsor hum, described as a low-frequency rumbling sound, has rattled windows and knocked objects off shelves in this border community just across the Detroit River from the Motor City. Locals have said it sounds like a large diesel truck idling, a loud boom box or the bass vocals of Barry White. Residents in Windsor, Ontario, have blamed the hum for causing illness, whipping dogs into frenzies, keeping cats housebound and sending goldfish to the surface in backyard ponds. Many have resorted to switching on their furnace fan all season to drown out the noise. Even weirder, Americans cannot seem to hear it. Canadians find that suspicious -- especially since their research suggests the hum is coming from the Yankees' side -- and accuse US officials of staying silent over the noise. "The government of Canada takes this issue seriously," Dechert said after his recent fact-finding trip, which included a visit to a heavily-industrialized area on the American side of the river that some Canadian scientists believe is to blame for the hum. I posted this Harry..scary shit bro... Bogus. There are scenes supposedly shot at Montreal 2nd week of January where trees are fully leaved out and there's no snow. Other Canadian scenes same time period with no snow. No way.
  11. We'll be visiting Ontario next month including a trip to Upper Canada Village. It's a reconstructed 17th century village just northeast of Prescott and well worth the visit. Ottawa is not that far away and has great museums, including one that houses an amazing collection of old steam locomotives. You might find something interesting going on at the National Art Centre at Ottawa.
  12. Looks like we've a lot of folks who have/ have had back problems. I'm looking for advice. I posted that I was having MRIs on all three spinal sections. The result: two herniated cervical discs, a thorassic fracture, and a herniated lumbar disc. However, none of these issues is putting any pressure on the spinal cord and the surgeon told me this morning that because of that, surgery is not warranted and would do me no good. He suggests a pain management regimon. My lower back doesn't bother me much unless I do heavy physical labor. I pay for that for 4-5 days and that it's back to normal. My upper back bothers me most every night, and on occasion the pain is very severe, very sharp and across my upper back. This is largely because I sit at a computer all day, and most evenings. So, what to do about it. I have a sister addicted to pain meds for this very reason. She now wears a morphine patch. And so, I am not going to take paid meds - short or long-term. Otherwise, he suggests cortisone shots. I hear from different people that they do a lot of good initially, but you have to keep coming back - which I can do, but I'm not interested in doing it every other month. Questions: - If you have similar back problems and have had the shots, how long do they last before you need another treatment? - How long have you been taking the shots; did there come a time that you didn't need them anymore? - Doc. said that as we age, our back "stiffens" and at some point, he expects this pain to go away. Any of you old farts go through this, and then have the pain just disappear? - Any other pain mangement advice other than the shots? Thanks for listening... Harry

  17. Activision's website http://www.callofduty.com/ has a clock ticking down seconds until tomorrow night, when it will make a "World Reveal" during the BB playoffs on TNT network.
  18. Gatlinburg sounds good - an hour and a half away for me.
  19. Just like a woman - get in the frickin' way when a man's trying to have fun.
  20. And for those folks who don't speak "Chilean," I ran the above through Babel Fish. What Chile wrote was, "I apologize for these assholes who call themselves Idiots. I'm only here because they pay me to be an admin. Cya."
  21. Yo, Bloke (if I'm using that correctly.) We've a number of members and guests from across the pond and delighted to welcome another one.
  22. Welcome Henri and as Little Old Fart - oops, Little Old Man - points out, any friend of the General, who has been on our servers a LONG time, is a friend of many in XI. Looking forward to shooting you in the nut sack.
  23. Very nice. I'll use it. Thanks!
  24. I did call this morning to see if I could bring in a book on CD to listen to. No - they're not equipped to pipe in sound. Or, if I could bring in a large-print paperback to read w/o my glasses. No - moving my arms to turn pages would be a problem. Oh well, there are much worse things to endure and no doubt many of our folks have endured them. Guess I'm stuck with looking at porn before I go in to keep my mind occupied.
