We have two large flea markets south of us and the amount of counterfeit clothing and ladies accessories is crazy !! At least once a year the feds bust vendors there. But the following week the vendors are back. Catch and Release !!!!

Just read where vinyl outsold cd's yet again in the first 6 months of 2021. Quote from article "In the first six months of 2021, 19.2 million vinyl albums were sold, outpacing CD volume of 18.9 million, according to analytics firm MRC Data, as fans look for tangible ways to connect with musicians".

I have a Sansui SE-7 EQ , but have not had the need to add it to my system. The Sansui 9090DB Receiver has Bass, Mid and Treble. Plus the Treble and Bass each have frequency selector switch to change the freq. you want to boost. Just got a Sansui 5000 in that I just cleaned up and de-oxed all controls. Gonna fire it up tonight. Hope it works. The person I bought it off of said one channel was weak. Hope the cleaning solved the issue. But if it doesn't, I have a couple replacement channel boards for it. Those old Sansui 5000's sound amazing. Wife says I have issues when it comes to music and gear. I just bought all 6 Van Halen (David Lee Roth) albums. The re-mastered releases. Those all sound great. I can leave all eq's flat when playing them. Im a "Smiley Face" eq type of guy and they must have mastered those with that overall sound. Actually just got home from picking up a few used albums at Half Price Books. Gonna clean them and listen to them here in a few. Picked up a few James Gang, BTO, Guess Who, Foghat, Joe Walsh, Rick Derringer, Edgar Winter, Pat Travers, Elvin Bishop and early Chicago (Chicago 1,2,3). Before they went to pop !!

Best PC speakers I have come across are the Klipsch Promedia series. Fantastic sound and can hit some very high dB levels with zero distortion. Now I do have a media pc hooked up to a Sansui 9090db with Sansui SP5000 speakers from the early 70's. Back when audio gear was properly made. That set up will produce concert level sound pressure with "Zero" distortion. I have a dB level meter and easily hit 130dB with no sound breakup. And could have cranked the volume up more.

I see Klipsch 2.1 pc speakers !! Have same set on gaming pc. Love them !! Great sound. Those speakers have been around forever and for good reason.

At nine years old I was listening to live bands in bars !! I actually have R2R tapes with recordings from one of the bars !! Always had music going on in our house. Gonna be buried with my headphones on and iPod on random. Or cremated. Not sure yet.

Just Wondering Where Are the Bugs This year ?
MikeB replied to KaptCrunch's topic in General Discussion
Hornets and Carpenter Bees pollinate so they count Wasps/Mud Daubers (same family) do not pollinate, so they do not. I have a few Hornet nests you can come collect !! I try and leave them alone. But when the dumb asses build nests close to the house, they are DESTROYED !!! Wife is highly allergic to stings !!! And she is an avid gardener too !! Epi pen on stand by at all times. -

Come get some of our bees !! Plenty here. Bees, Hornets, Mud Daubers, and damn Carpenter Bees !! -
Add Hip-Hop to that equation too. I have problems discerning between "Rap and Hip-Hop". Sound the same to me. Dont care for "Cookie Monster Metal" and "New Country" either . But give me anything else from Bach to Chet Adkins to Sabbath and I am good. Now Alice Cooper put out a rap song with Xzibet called "Stand", Its pretty good. Its a rap/rock blend. Has a good message. Which is rare.

Nothing wrong g with good ole Slim !!!

I prefer vinyl to any other medium. Just my personal preference. In the video, they should have compared 7 1/2 IPS reel to reel against vinyl. Instead they used 3 3/4 which is inferior to the faster speed. 3 3/4 can sound good as shown in some of the comparisons, but 7 1/2 IPS is so much more dynamic and has a higher frequency range. But many commercial tapes were 3 3/4 IPS. Used less tape (cheaper to manufacture), but the sound quality is very noticeable between the two speeds. Now dont get me wrong 7 1/2 IPS R2R sounds fantastic (even some 3 3/4). I listen to tape everyday and on paper it out performs vinyl. But for listening pleasure I like vinyl. Digital is fine and a convenient medium, but "listening fatigue" is a real problem with digital to me. Now 15 IPS R2R is the bomb !!!!

looking for recommendations for an inexpensive tablet

We have a couple Samsung Galaxy Tab A7's. About $200. Work great for reading online content and web browsing. I have a few card game apps installed and they run fine. Battery life is great on them too. The Tab A is around $150 and has a smaller screen. -
If it came from Shure, the surely its a Shure !!! Say that 10 times as fast as you can.

The ECU is now programmed to hit rev limiter at 8k. Before the motor was yanked, I had hit the limiter a few times throughout the years. Been a great car. I've owned several Z's in the past 30 years and non have ever disappointed me. And I beat the shit out of them. But I religiously do maintenance. You guys know the routine !! Drive / Clean / Mod /Maint./ Drive/Repeat !!

A Dodge Coronet is on my wish list !!! If I ever get to build a drag car, a Coronet is on the top 10 list. Do the Fury's have that roof line going across by the "C" pillars, like the Coronets ? Pretty damn similar looking bodies.

Turbo's are both water cooled and oil feed with oil cooler. The whole engine only holds 4 qts. As you can tell by the engine picture, its pretty damn tight. The new intake will be located in same position as old one. Basically it adds another pop charger and another MAF sensor. The new intake has a sensor switch to enable the car to run without the ECU being flashed. Pretty slick for those not wanting to mess with ECU crap. But I will replace the code to take full advantage of the dual intakes. Sorry for the bad picture. I still using an old Samsung S4 !! The intake picture is from another Z with similar type system. The intake is under the nose panel on the front of the car. Gets pretty good airflow. Intercoolers are located in stock positions on both front side fenders with intakes. I installed larger intercoolers a few years back. The third picture is the actual back ordered intake I am installing. The new turbos are quite larger than the stock ones, so my lag with the one intake is an issue. Spooling comes on strong around 4k. Gets freakishly fast from 5k to 7k. Once I install the extra intake, I will see less lag. Should start boosting strong around 3k (like stock). Its quite fun to be going 55mph down the highway and drop it into 3rd and smoke the tires.

Just put new turbo's (2 Garrett 675 Ball Bearing), headers, downpipes, test pipes, 740cc Nismo Injectors (double stock), Greddy Profec Boost Control and a few other goodies. Im waiting on a new dual air intake which is on back order. With the stock air intake I am limited to 15psi. The motor can not suck in enough air beyond that psi. Daily driving Im only running 10psi, which puts it at about 475 rear wheel HP. Thats plenty for street use. I do have the controller set to 15psi on the "Hi" setting, but rarely use it (525hp). Too squirrely at that level. Once the dual air intake comes in I can realistically see 625wrhp or more with current ECU tune and 28psi of boost. Proper tune and race gas could easily push 700hp. Not bad for a 3.0 liter 6cyl. from the 90's. Will get pictures of the motor when I get a chance. I need to take it to Mid-Ohio during a track day and have some fun. Damn thing loves anything over 100mph !! Plus it handles like a go kart !! Wife hates riding with me.

Are these home recorded tapes or actual store bought consumer releases ?

Good deal. Which Mackie did you get ? The Onyx Pre-Amps are nice and clean. Meaning they do not impart any sonic characteristics that some other Pre-Amps do. You have monitors or are you using headphones ? And may I suggest a DAW that is so easy to use. And has a free version. Its called Waveform https://www.tracktion.com/products/waveform-free Some will chime in about Reaper, which I used extensively also. Its fine, but the GUI is clunky. I use Studio One and Waveform exclusively. I had Cubase, ProTools, and tried others and Waveform is by far the easiest and quickest to learn. I use it exclusively to quickly record ideas and to get rough mixes. I then import those ideas into Studio One and finish the project up. Once you try a few DAW's out you will learn each ones quirks and limitations. But in the 20+ years I have been recording shit via pc, I settled on Waveform and Studio One. Well if you consider 4 track tape, I have been multitracking longer !! Fun stuff. Hit me up with any questions concerning gain, gates, compression, limiting, etc..

Focusrite have great preamps. If it was me I would go for a Mackie Big Knob 3x2. These are an all in one interface that can handle all your needs. 2 preamps, headphone outs, monitor control, etc.. They also use the Onyx+ Series preamps which are very nice. I used a Mackie 1640i for over a decade recording music and the preamps are clean. Not sure what your budget is, but the Mackie Big Knob 4x3 has stereo ins ands outs added. Cost $349 vs the 3x2 at $249. But at $119 the Scarlett will work nicely. Ive played with the Presonus USB interfaces also. They sound good too, but I always had driver issues. Granted that was way back in the day when they first hit the market. But the Mackie's offer Two headphone amps and volume controls. That in itself is a great option, especially if your going to do a podcast with another person at some point. I would spend the extra $140 and at least get the Mackie 3x2. Research them all and see what fits your bill.

The 57 and 58 are basically the same mic. Difference as you stated. 57 is for close mic of instruments and 58 vocal. But both can be used in any application. Fakes are a concern due to the fact these are the most popular mic on earth. Fakes have even made it to retail chain stores.
-
Good price on the 58. The 58 and 57 are the workhorse studio mics. I have a few, scattered here and there. Cant go wrong with them. Well unless your one of the few who's voice sounds like shit with it. Be aware there are Chinese "knockoffs" of these mics too. I dont see the big fuss over Amazon. I hardly ever find stuff cheaper there. And if I do, the damn thing is never delivered in 2 days. Info on fake Shure mics https://fakesm58.wordpress.com/

Sammy, you know as well as I do, most women and some men can not go more than 1 hour without their cell phone and looking at FB !! Icequeen will be pulling hair out by the roots by the time the third day is up !!!
