I saw the IP address for the WIP Freezetag mod, so I went to save it as a favorite. Upon launching Call of Duty 4, I would either see a black screen with music or a flickering screen with music. I updated my Nvidia drivers today after seeing this. I tried to read online what could fix this. I disabled Steam Overlay which did not help. Then, I was able to navigate the flickering screen to change Anti Aliasing from 4x to Off. That stopped the flickering but gave me a frozen screen in game. I can't always kill the game either with Task Manager so I have to restart my laptop. Any idea what is happening or how to fix it?

It could be your onboard graphics overheating (might be fluffed up inside) but if it runs other games then the problem would be unique to Cod4 You could run (in comand promt) DXdiag and that might point to a grarhics issue if it is driver or DX based Awards

You didn't change anything did you? With the game install. Edited July 17 by iboomboom I need better sleep Awards

I'm on 1.7 at the moment but will eventually see if Cod4x corrupts it. I had Cod4x before I went on vacation.

Cod4x must have been trying to use a different resolution. It was weird because my laptop could run but not my external monitor.

Normally it'll automatically copy your configs when you install the client. I never had to copy them manually. If you connect to the server without cod 4x client it'll automatically install it for you. Awards

But after cod4x install, everything was really really dark. And adjusting the brightness did nothing. I hit optimize video setting in game not know what it would do. Then was stuck in windowed mode which was hella small. Ended up uninstalling cod4x with the uninstall app in the cod folder. Restarted and adjusted the screen resolution to match my desktop resolution to get out of windowed mode that was stuck. Rejoined the server and had cod install cod4x. So far everything works good. major-mark63 1 Awards

Right some times the config doesn't get copied over so it puts the game in windowed mode. Which is why everything is so dark. Awards
