(this is GROUNDBURST)

So, just last evening I tried to logon and play the sniper server and OOOPPPSSS..........can't do it.  I've tried several things that lead me to think that all the data on my COD WAW disc has been deleted.

I don't know how, or why...............is that even possible??  Is this something common?

I tried other discs and the drive appears to be working.

Moving the disc to another drive on another computer gets the same "empty" result.

I am thinking that the only solution is to find another COD WAW disc for sale?????

If so, I don't know where.  A search for COD and World at War don't turn up anything.

yeah, that is prob not the issue.  have you updated windows since the last time it worked?

A couple things I'd try.

Open it from the drive and make sure the data is on the disk and windows can read it.

Trying running the setup as administrator.  take note to where it is installing to when you install it.

download an iso or a copy of the game and just use your cd key.

Thanks for the input.

I find nothing on the disc from my computer and two others that I have tried. The disc drive will accept and use discs from other games. Nothing on the disc to copy over 😞

I upgraded to Windows 11 a year or so ago and been playing just fine until a couple evenings ago.

I'm going to see if I can find a used disc if I cant fix this...............and I am beginning to doubt that it is fixable.

COD WAW is only disc that will not open.  The CD player takes all others.  Don't think it is the driver.  COD disc does not open in CD drivers on three other machines either.............am left with conclusion it is the disc.

Looking for a WAW used disc now.

There are a lot of people more expert than me, but I got interested as this seems weird, so thanks to google I found this. The general consensus is dirty cd or dirty lens, ps make sure you show hidden files. Be careful with editing the registry unless you're confident, try others first. I personally am not confident with editing the registry so be warned.

Because this is a factory-made data CD being read on Windows 11, the issue is almost certainly caused by corrupted Registry filters in Windows 11, or a failing laser hardware lens inside your disc drive. Factory discs are physically pressed and finalized, so they do not suffer from the user-error burning bugs common to blank media. Clear Corrupted Windows 11 Registry Filters Windows updates can corrupt specific registry keys (called Upper and Lower Filters), forcing the drive to misread factory data discs as empty or unreadable. Press the Windows Key + R, type regedit, and press Enter to open the Registry Editor.Navigate to this exact path in the left sidebar:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4d36e965-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}Look at the right panel. Look for files named Upper Filters or Lower Filters. If you see either file, right-click on it and select Delete. Close the Registry Editor and restart your computer.

Assign a Explicit Drive LetterSometimes Windows 11 detects the hardware but forgets to map the path to display the files in File Explorer.Right-click the Start Menu and select Disk Management.Locate your CD-ROM drive listed in the bottom section.Right-click the drive space and choose Change Drive Letter and Paths.Click Add or Change, assign a new letter (like E: or G:), and click OK.

Clean the Optical Drive Laser LensFactory-made data discs have tighter track tolerances than music CDs. If the reader laser lens inside your tray collects dust, it can spin the disc but fail to read the file allocation index.Open the tray and use a can of compressed air to clear out dust.Gently wipe the tiny glass lens sphere inside with a dry, lint-free microfiber cloth or a specialized CD laser cleaner disc.
