The Space Weather Prediction Centre says: 2012-01-20 16:35 G1 (Minor) Geomagnetic Storm Possible January 23 SWPC Forecasters have determined that the CME from NOAA Region 1402 near disk center yesterday will likely pass above (north) of Earth. This glancing blow will cause just G1 (Minor) Geomagnetic Storm activity. Look for the first signs of it around 1800Z (1:00 pm EST) on Sunday, January 22, with the bulk of the disturbance to occur Monday, January 23. Watch here for updates. http://www.swpc.noaa.gov/ In layman's language, the Sun has farted and the sky may light up from Sunday evening. If you live in Maine or northern Michigan USA, you may see it. Those of us in more northerly latitudes (Canada and Europe) also stand a chance. Weather forecast for here (51 degrees North) is currently good for Sunday night! (So probably won't be in game that night...)
 Awards

I have seen a small piece of it before myself from here. I really think it would ever be possible to see it from so far south, but I could see one green stripe across the sky. It's been about 5 or 6 years ago.

The last one caused Northern Lights over the UK - gallery here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-16685364 - but we didn't see them in southern Britain. Today's, however, is likely to produce an impressive light show as far south as New York City! It's raining here and the cloud cover that is forecast to last into the evening will probably obscure our view. http://gizmodo.com/5878656/how-this-huge-solar-storm-is-going-to-affect-you
 Back in 2003-2004 when I was still in Nova Scotia, I logged at least 38 evenings where I observed the Northern Lights. The sun was at the peak of it's 11-year activity cycle, and we're approaching another peak. The sun has certainly gotten more active. The best show was one evening where the entire sky was lit up in dancing waves of reds and greens, with a beautiful "auroral crown" overhead. I saw some folks walking down my street completely oblivious to the show overhead. Very sad... For daily info on what's up with the Sun, go to www.spaceweather.com.
