There are some good deals if one shops around e.g. this 69-footer, 10-berth boat for under £500! http://www.waterwaysholidays.com/detail/nwsphynx.htm You won't get a week in the States for 50 sovs per head and there are no body cavity searches on the canals (unless you are elected skipper and stipulate they form part of the evening entertainment!). By the sound of it, it is something to look forward to in a few years when she's old enough to enjoy feeding the ducks, geese and swans. But you'll need eyes on her all the time near the water and a buoyancy aid! Relaxing holiday?! I've seen so many couples, even with mother-in-law on board as baby-sitter, really losing it at locks. Talk about stress! You need a couple of suckers...I mean friends to do the hard labour! Navigation is a technical skill best performed by the man and is assisted by nightly infusions of real ale.
