Then when I started the game said I needed to update but Origin said I was tehn game let me load and then since stuck in connecting in battle log and loading in game. I'm guessing you are running a 32-bit rig? Give this solution a try - it worked for me. Also be aware that BF3 is especially picky about other stuff running in the background. I don't suggest for a moment that you take down anti-virus or firewall as that would be foolish but check to ensure that no other utilities are running when you fire up Origin.
