Every time I went back into game after logging off it said unknown soldier, and all of the other settings went back to the default as well. Finally (not sure what I did) after several tries it all finally stuck and is ok. I would suggest just keep changing your name when you start up the game and eventually it will stay. What I did (remember) is after you change the name in multi player options from unknown to your new name click Esc then click multiplayer options.
