so my pc is starting to piss me off right now. whenever i come into the room and sit at my desk to get on it shocks me and restarts. i have checked the ground for the outlet it is good. i have checked the ground for the surge protector it is also good. checked the ground for the pc power cable and good. checked to see if the psu is connecting to the case and nope good there. not a single thing that i can see should be causing this yet everyday it happens.

With the drier air in the winter it could be static especially if you have carpeting in you house...Try wiping your hands and shirt and pants down with a drier sheet before you touch you puter and see if that helps... :) :)

its been foggy and rainy here lately so the humidity isnt causing increased static. and it happens if i touch the mouse, keyboard, monitor, joystick. heck even if i touch the border on the desk.

Copper bracelet ? Winter months do provide for more static in the air.....Do u have a neutral ground problem some where in the house perhaps outside where there should be a stake in the ground .....

I can say the copper bracelet won't help, cause I wear one, and never take it off. And while I have been off work this last week, I have had the a ton of shocks walking around the house in house shoes and fleece pants.

although it does sound like a static issues if touching all that other stuff sets it off too.

I only get static when i wear slippers with rubber soals....i can actually shock the hell out of someone while wearing them...just rub your feet on the carpet and voila ..instant electro...if i walk around bare footed it doesn't happen...maybe you have a ground wire loose inside the wall socket,,try plugging it in to another receptacle to see if it eliminates the prob..sounds like a short somewhere and it's not grounding out...have you got a good surge protector on your comp...try that as well if not..other than that i don't know much about electricity other than bro's with the similar probs that turned out to be a faulty wall socket...good luck let us know how you make out

In your office does your chair sit on one of those large plastic floor or carpet protectors? I find that in the winter months, rolling your chair around on one of those suckers can generate one hell of a static charge, enough to mess up a computer. Some of them come with a ground wire attached that you can attach to the screw of a power outlet.

If that's what you have I would suggest taking out the floor protector until the weather warms up.

It does sound like the guy's are right and its static...That being said the human body can have upto 7000 volts at any given time and that will cause you major issues with your comp so my advice would be buy a static wrist strap and connect it to a good earth before going anywhere near your PC all it would take is something touching the inside of your pc case and your motherboard could be fried and your GPU along with it.....

I know years ago I fried my motherboard that way.. when changing Ram I touched the case and bang big spark then nothing worked after that
