I'm in the process of getting a bigger aquarium started, i've had this one going for about 3 years now and it's time to expand. My plans were to set up another one next to this one and take this one down but since my peppermint shrimp have decided to mulitply i'll keep my 30 gallon going for now. The green grass looking stuff is green star polyp coral, I also have some other polyps and of course the dreaded aptasia that I got from seeding some live rock but the peppershrimp are taking care of that. Post some bigger pictures of the whole tank. Can't see much in that first pic. I just got back into marine tanks after many years and enjoying the hell out of it. I have two 30's and a 150 gallon. Mine are FOWLR tanks and all are a work in progress. Awards

Saltwater tanks are easier to care for and the fish have personalities and stuff just starts growing that you never knew you had. I used to have a 55 but got bored with it and sold it. I kick myself everyday now and regret it, it was reef ready and built in overflows, I made the refugium. Long story short, regretting selling it. I'll get some more pics but i'll never own another acrylic aquarium again. The purple coraline algea is covering everything and as you probably know, it's not easily scraped from acrylic. I'm getting a Marineland 56 column tank. I'm going to try and build an in tank overflow and filter system, I modified the one in my 30 gallon and it's working great. Also adding an RO filter for my top off tank, it will be nice not having to carry water any more. I've got an ATO on my 30 now and I wouldn't have another tank without one. Once I get my other tank going and after I transfer my live rock, coral, inverts and fish out of it, I want to get some uncured live rock and see what I get. Awards

Poor little bastard found the 1 inch gap at the back of my tank and went for it. I'm doing my 150 without a refugium, only a canister filter and skimmer. So far so good. Fish only tanks don't require the high water quality of reef tanks and our water quality in my town is good enough to use out of the tap, so no RO water needed. Just get the chlorine out and it's good to go. Awards

Haven't kept aquaria for many years now (my son grew up, we moved house and I disposed of the tanks after rehoming the fish) but it's a fascinating pursuit with a great pay-off for the hard work involved.
