Hey all,

I have a problem, untill this evening I have been running my PC video card Nvidia GTX560ti through the HDMI output into my 22' Monitor, for months I have never had a problem. Tonight I turn my PC on and the monitor says check cable, then going to sleep. I have changed the HDMI Cable, but nothing, the only way to get a picture is to put the old monitor cable in ?

I have tried rolling back drivers - no joy

I have tried a system restore - no joy

When I plug the HDMI Lead into the video card the PC makes the usual noise as if its found new hardware but no picture

HELP ME PLEASE

Do you have an older card to try and see if you get a picture? or even a different monitor?

do you have any other HDMI gadget you can plug into your monitor and see if it has the problem.

Q: is there a difference in quality between HDMI and DVI? :unknw:

hope you figure it out asap!!

Thanks for the replies, I dont have another video card with a HDMI output, and to be honest I cant tell any difference in performance or visually. Just really annoying....... how can something work fine for mths, then one day decide not to work.......... card work fine with the VGA cable, not sure if there is any difference or not.

grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr My dislike for PC's grows lol

Hi Morris,

VGA on your 560Ti works with your monitor. Did I get that right?

Have you tried to switch the input sources of your screen? Try to change it to HDMI only or auto detect.

If the source is ok:

does the HDMI output work when you start your PC? If yes: in Windows safe mode too?? (press F8 during Windows startup)

New cable, so that is likely the issue. I like Technoboy's idea of taking it out of auto and forcing it to HDMI.

Do you have a TV with HDMI in? If so, connect your pc to it. If you get a pic, then your HDMI in on your monitor is probably bad. If not, its your HDMI out on your vid card.

The driver date is fairly new (12/29/12) so i looks like it has been updated recently. When you did a system restore, how far back did you go? Before 12/29?

Also, do you happen to have a hdmi to dvi convertor? If so, you could use the hdmi out on your card to dvi in on the monitor. If it works it means the hdmi in on the monitor could be bad.
