Well then Shamu there's alway James A. Mitchner great reads all his books.

Michener's earlier books surpassed the ones later in his career. He has an amazing way of moving you through time in his books. However, I have read almost all of his single title books with Hawaii being my favorite. He tells an amazing story starting with a bird shitting on the island.

I will have to go surf Amazon to see what I may have missed.

BTW, he lived locally.

I rarely read any fiction, these days, myself (other than that presented by the press as "news" of course!).

My latest, recent purchase, in the 150th anniversary year of the network is "Underground: How The Tube Shaped London".

I have been a huge fan of our capital's "metro" or "subway" train service since childhood,

when a ticket cost just twopence (in pre-decimal currency).  I also have some unread

biographies and travelogues to get through.

I am the same Deejay, can't remember when i last read any fiction, i tend to go for biographies nowadays, or something about  WW2.

Any of the Mitch Rapp series by Vince Flynn. But I suggest you start with the first one and go from there.  Great reads.

please please help me with some ideas

Cross, try "The Dark Tower : The Gunslinger" by Stephen King... it is not what it sounds like.  You will LOVE it if you liked the LOTR and the wheel of time series.

here is a link. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Dark_Tower:_The_Gunslinger

There are 5 books, but the size of the ones in the wheel of time... well worth it.

ok add those to the ones ive already read as well :-D

i didnt realize ive read so many damn books jeeze

ive read just about ever stephen king book

Fantasy/War? Hands down, Steven Erikson's (and Ian C. Esselmont's) "Malazan Book of the Fallen Series" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malazan_Book_of_the_Fallen. Long, meaty books, well written, and great characters and plots. To keep track of who's-who-in-the-zoo, there are a couple of encyclopedias/wikis online:

  • Malazan Empire – Major fansite, including a FAQ and a forum occasionally frequented by Erikson and his associates.
  • Encyclopaedia Malazica – Major wiki, frequented by Steven Erikson.

If you like non fiction WW II seriously consider "With the Old Breed" by E B Sledge as I mentioned earlier. It is truly a classic written by one who was there. A highly recommended read.

Forgive me for posting twice about the same book but that also show my opinion of the book. In fact I just ordered it to have on my Kindle. For me , worth reading twice and books I would read twice are few and far between. Can't think of any others at the moment.
