There are some familiar brands there also popular in the UK.

Shakespeare make some cheaper but good quality gear.

Shimano make excellent reels  - I have two of their baitrunners for carp fishing:

No mention for ABU over there?  Again, I rate this company's products and have three of their rods.

I've even encountered the Berkley fishing line in the past.

Our angling methods are, as I understand them, different - on TV I have only seen Americans use lures

whereas we use a variety of baits and methods depending on the species we are after.  Angling is the

most popular participation sport in this country so I am delighted we are supplied by so many different

companies and shops.  I just bought my licence for 2013-14 (£27) and hope they send it soon!

Firearms:  you know the score with them in the UK so I shan't touch on them.

Any hunting with a crossbow or bows and arrows in this country is illegal.

I have the shimano aero 1000 (rear drag) with a light action ugly stick and 6lb stren fishing line, that ive had for over 5 years and its still my favorite and most used

combo. landed 5 - 6 lb small/large mouth bass, 8-10 lb channel cats, 10lb carp. plus hundreds of all kinds of fish.

for my baitcaster i have an ABU ambassadeur 6500-ce with a st croix rod, use it for cat fish or muskie. very nice combo, with a good size bait on it can cast it a long way off.

I do mostly use artificial baits as i like to be able to get to fishing without having to stop and get bait, like on the way home from work and stopping at a fishing hole or river. but of course i do use live bait also.

a friend i fish with loves to use nothing but live bait and a float, and i would show up and use a jig (home made) and a berkley power bait and 9 times out of 10 out fish him, lol. just last year he finally started doing the same and catching fish with it. and with catfish a friend would only use large suckers (and they aint cheap). but i would pull out the ol' chicken liver and kill them. always get that funny look at the store check out with a tub of livers and the clerk asking do we eat that!  lol

Cant wait til it warms up here so i can get at it!!
