I bought a new computer which is great so far.

The issue I am having is with the front USB ports. I have 6 ports in the back, 2 of which are USB 3.0 and 4 of which are 2.0 and I have 2 in the front that are 3.0. No issue with the back ones but the front ones are giving me grief.

I only use the front ones for my Joystick and for my headphones. When i shut my computer off and later turn it back on again nothing works in the front ports, its like they are shut off. So I unplug everything plugged into them, then restart my computer and plug everything back in and they work fine. Next time I shut down and restart I get the joys of doing it all over again. This never happens with the back ones though.

Any idea why this is happening and how I can stop it from occurring?

Running windows 8

Sounds like an old style tower PC. I've had Dell PC's that have had similar problems but never got a fix for it.

I've heard of this happening before.  Have you recently upgraded to Win7 -> Win8?  Sometimes when upgrading you need re-install your chip set for your USB 3.0.

Seeming you just bought it i would say it came per-loaded with win8. Unless you built your own.

out of curiosity, which ones are usb3.0 ?    I would check to make sure the drivers for the usb3.0 device is functioning properly.

With all that said, i have done a little research on this issue. my conclusion would be to re-install the drivers for USB 2.0/3.0, and see were that takes you.  You should be able to find these drivers on the manufacturers website.

It was purchased with windows 8 preloaded, if i had a choice i would burn windows 8 and go back to 7. This link is the computer i bought: http://www.bestbuy.ca/en-CA/product/cyberpowerpc-cyberpowerpc-gamer-aqua-pc-intel-core-i7-60gb-ssd-1tb-hdd-16gb-ram-nvidia-geforce-gtx760-english-glc2260/10274306.aspx?path=e9800d8c60e050b263c2ff3ec9922a2den02

I was also given the book for the msi motherboard with it.

I will try looking into some of the things you guys have suggested.

I appreciate the help, things like this are extremely frustrating..

just add another drive with win7 on it  so you can boot either  8 or 7

what's the model # for the MSI motherboard ......also  install LIVE update to get current drivers for you motherboard from its CDrom

Caution: with MB model and its Revision ........need to check MB for its printed on the lower left of MB, so you get correct software for MB , they use same model #

as  using a  Jaguar Car  with a chevy or ford engine , you need correct  MB Revision

other wise  you have a useless computer if  shove a ford part on a chevy motor

I think I have figured it out. Not 100% sure as of yet though. I have my computer plugged into a surge protector with battery back up so my computer was acting like a laptop running on battery instead of plugged in so when I went into the advanced power options the "suspend USB" was enabled so I disable it so that it wont suspend USB power. I shall see if this was this issue.. Seems to be working fine right now. But I havent shut down and restarted yet to see if power is still there at the USB.
