The issue of Hawaii shouldn't be on the list since the annexation of Hawaii is not at the same level of "Shocking" as the KKK or lynchings. The accounting of what happened in Hawaii as stated by the U. S. State Department go here: https://2001-2009.state.gov/r/pa/ho/time/gp/17661.htm No country is without shame and I'm not proud of the "ugly" the USA has shown at times but the overwhelming number of good things this country has done in it's 240 year existence makes me proud to be an American. Their queen was imprisoned in her palace by us, and kept there. Annexation is annexation. Because America did it, doesn't make it okay imo. In the early 1990's we defended a country named Kuwait from the same, bad behavior. When I was writing my first novel I did a great deal of research on Hawaii and their legends/religious beliefs. They are a proud people, with an amazing heritage. I also spoke with a Shaman or Kahuna. He explained to me the Hawaiian way of Aloha. Really amazing philosophy, and a way that brings peace, not death. Landshark BigPapaDean, JAYsus_NL and iboomboom
 Awards

There were a number of battles between factions of the Hawaiian people before Europeans arrived, just as native Americans were constantly at war with each other and took slaves long before Europeans arrived.
