  1. Love the game but, oh dear, Steam.... It also has bugs....
  2. Congrats!
  3. A friend in Victoria BC brought my attention to this and it looks like many of you Canadians may be able to lodge a claim with at least C$25 coming your way... http://www.ctvnews.ca/business/multimillion-dollar-settlements-reached-in-lcd-price-fixing-class-action-1.2000656 http://www.lcdclassactioncanada.com/
  4. A group of chaps, all aged 40, discussed where they should meet for lunch. Finally it was agreed that they would meet at Wetherspoons in Uxbridge because the waitresses had big breasts and wore mini-skirts. Ten years later, aged 50, the friends once again discussed where they should meet for lunch. Finally it was agreed that they would meet at Wetherspoons in Uxbridge because the food and service was good and the beer selection was excellent. Ten years later, aged 60, the friends again discussed where they should meet for lunch. Finally it was agreed that they would meet at Wetherspoons in Uxbridge because there was plenty of parking, they could dine in peace and quiet, and it was good value for money. Ten years later, aged 70, the friends discussed where they should meet for lunch. Finally it was agreed that they would meet at Wetherspoons in Uxbridge because the restaurant was wheelchair accessible and had a toilet for the disabled. Ten years later, aged eighty, the friends discussed where they should meet for lunch. Finally it was agreed that they would meet at Wetherspoons in Uxbridge because they had never been there before.
  5. We have a nest of common wasps in our roof. Fortunately, there is no direct access from the nest to our living quarters and, aside from having to eject a few wasps every day from whichever room into which they have flown, they are not causing a problem. I have, however, asked for a pest controller to visit to kill the nest though accessing it could be a problem without removing roof tiles. We also see the larger German wasps from time to time; they live in underground burrows. Rarer still are the hornets.
  6. You're welcome, Edd, but that doesn't get you off the hook, you know... I'd just like to add this...
  7. "Consumers in New Zealand are complaining that a certain brand of sweets is leaving them with a bad taste in their mouths. The gentle folk of the South Island were worried that the mixed bag of gummy sweets from the Dutch Rusk company contained shapes that looked like penises." 8. Having navigated through this minefield, I thought I'd ask a few pertinent questions (and, before anyone reaches for their mouse to award me another medal, I already have the one for "pain in the ass"! ). Indeed, the questions I am about to ask really go beyond this single game and could be applied to any supported by the clan for which it provides servers... We have already established that the clan is in good financial health and the reason(s) behind the suggestion that we lose a BF4 server are not connected with the expense of maintaining it. It has been made abundantly clear in the preceding messages from Admins that a significant driving force behind the idea is recruitment. There is a turnover of members with some departing but, as the recent influx amply demonstrates, there is hardly a problem with recruiting new blood. The clan has grown at least 25% in size in four years AFAICR and we have a lot of great players with tags, many of whom have a good sense of humour. So, my first question is: why are the BF4 Admins seemingly obsessed by recruitment? The clan isn't a business so why is there this perceived insatiable appetite to add to its numbers? (I'm hoping that the answer won't reveal a liking for 'pissing competitions'...) Second question - this one relates, perhaps, more to the specific topic of this thread... Are the clan servers operated primarily for the benefit of its members or for visitors? Third question: To what extent does an interest in server rankings drive the Admins to consider making changes to the servers the clan operates? (They seem to have meant something in the past though I have never understood why.)

  10. I watched the opening ceremony of the inaugural Invictus Games in London, tonight. Teams of disabled service personnel from many coalition countries are taking part and their resolve, bravery and strength are inspirational! Of course, the favourites have to be the USA team, honed in their own Warrior Games. Each of these individual competitors deserves our respect for the way they have responded to their injuries. Out of the night that covers me, Black as the pit from pole to pole, I thank whatever gods may be For my unconquerable soul. In the fell clutch of circumstance I have not winced nor cried aloud. Under the bludgeonings of chance My head is bloody, but unbowed. Beyond this place of wrath and tears Looms but the horror of the shade, And yet the menace of the years Finds, and shall find, me unafraid. It matters not how strait the gate, How charged with punishments the scroll, I am the master of my fate, I am the captain of my soul. William Ernest Henley, 1849-1903 http://invictusgames.org/
  11. Pleased you're enjoying playing with us. Yes, do come into Teamspeak and enjoy the banter! See you in the game sometime!
  12. Those in hospital are always in my daily prayers so I shall continue to pray for the recovery of your sister. I hope all has gone well for her and she'll soon be back at home with the famiy. God Bless You All. +
  13. Ok if you want to discontinue the "breakfast club" concept altogether. We have always assembled on the DM server to play around the same time. The reason it has become so popular is that the same regulars turn up every day and we do the same nasty things to each other with cocktails, pizzas and toffee apples. If you constrain the server so that not everyone that used to play can still play, there is no more "breakfast club".
  14. Or people will go and play another game... If it ain't broke, why fix it?
  15. Looks like the railgun will mean more players camping around the edges of the map sniping which really adds to the enjoyment of the game...
  16. "The Duchess of Cambridge is pregnant with her second child. Kensington Palace said the Queen and members of both families were delighted with the news. The palace said that - as when she was pregnant with Prince George - the duchess was suffering from very acute morning sickness and was being treated by doctors at Kensington Palace. The baby will become fourth in line to the throne, moving Prince Harry further down the line of succession." BBC News Full article: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-29108010

  19. When is she going to be invited to join the clan? Perhaps she has been, in between the talk laced with innuendo? We need to keep players with such a great sense of humour - she is so forgiving when I stick things to her...
  20. An interesting map compiled with data from the WHO (that's the World Health Organisation not the pop group!). Just hover the mouse pointer over each country and see the data above. It looks like all the propaganda and high taxes are having an effect in the UK as, for beer-drinking at least, we are being out-supped by the USA, Canada and Australia. The world beer-drinking champions appear to be the Germans but that is hardly a surprise! 1.4 litres (the average volume of beer consumed in the UK per person per week) equates to under three 50cl bottles... I am going to hang my head in shame! http://ghostinthedata.com/alcoholmap/
