  1. You need more than a Sig lol??
  2. Monika???? just seen this, I think you mean KICK your ass, or I hope you do, you're some girl!
  3. That was your processor, the chipset is embedded in the motherboard, I suppose a simple way of thinking of it is that the processor crunches the information and the chipset distributes it, you need to know the exact chipset from your motherboard, as all else has failed this is worth a try. When reformatting the chipset driver is usually the first driver to be loaded from your motherboards cd, if its corrupt it may cause these problems, if you go to your motherboard manufacturers driver downloads see if theres a chipset one.
  4. I'm as much at a loss as you are? its definitely a bottleneck so the only other thing I can think of other than internet or memory is the chipset driver, you've done everything else.
  5. You're right, that message indicates a broadband problem either in the actual connection , hardware or settings, something is restricting data flow somewhere, we'll see what he says.
  6. I hope thats right m8 as it's been a struggle for you, all the best.
  7. All the advice above is good, but don't rush it work logically and do things one step at a time, you didn't say what the result was of trying the modules singly in slot A2, I'm sure your mix of memory is not good running 2 different voltages even if not the problem, I run on only 8gb and have no problems with gaming, try the memory tester I've used that myself and the quick check is useful.
  8. Ah I think I spot the problem, both run at different voltages, let me check your manual again, I'll do it in the morning as bedtime here in UK, you have them in correct slots but the voltages may be set wrong in the bios unless your board autodetects, I thought you said there were 4 sticks?? ' you're getting mixed up with the 4gb you have 2 sticks of 8gb not 4 sticks of 4gb as earlier posts, Take the right hand stick out and try with just the left hand, if still choppy swap modules in left hand
  9. OK, now place/view your motherboard so the memory slots are in the upper right hand corner, left to right the slots are labelled A!, A2, B1 & B2 It will only work in the following configuration :- 1 memory module - must be in A2 ONLY 2 modules - one in A2 and one in B2 ONLY 4 modules in all four Your modules may not be made up in 500mb blocks, i.e. for 4gb you should not have 8 squares Now what I want you to do is ONLY LEAVE the modules in A2 & B2, i.e. take A1 & B1 out and see how it runs You said some of them were different, use two the same
  10. OK it must be listed somewhere which slots you use with only two sticks, it would probably be easier for you to tell me the exact motherboard and version then I'll look it up, should have thought of that, tell me what your video card is too
  11. HI LH, Thought we had this sorted but looks like we didn't, Ram is a highly likely source of the problem as I mentioned in earlier posts, so heres what to do initially before we look at anything in the bios :- First look at your motherboard manual and find out what and how much each slot takes, it is highly likely initially that the board was set up as dual channel in two slots and now you ain't running it Second presuming each slot takes up to 4gb (which is likely) find out which are the 2 main slots (i.e. if you only had two sticks - manual should state this ) and pull the memory from the others, if the problem is because of running 4 slots then it should run ok, if still choppy swap out memory sticks one by one to see if you have a bad one. Let me know as after this it gets a little trickier IF YOU DO NOT HAVE AN EARTHING STRAP ALWAYS EARTH YOURSELF BEFORE TOUCHING RAM, i.e. a house radiator or metal pipe to ground
  12. Ah how little we talk to our children nowadays, glad its solved, remember my very first words try the internet first, software second and hardware last, remember that my friend, Happy New Year from the UK.
  13. Ah now we're getting there, remember what I said earlier about Ram, firstly find out the make and spec of the mremory hopefully its all the same then :- 1/. Get your motherboard manual and find out if it accepts that memory spec i.e. size, speed and frequency 2/. There will be a bit in the manual that tells you what is accepted in each memory slot, make sure you know the slot numbers from the diagram 3/. It will tell you what the settings should be in the bios, hopefully auto is selected. 4/. It may be that your previous memory was configured dual channel and these sticks won't work dual channel, especially for two pairs Now this is a fairly complicated subject and some level of expertise is needed but not beyond anyone who treads carefully, for now only use two MATCHING sticks of memory in the slots recommended in the manual, come back after you've done this, take two sticks out. Memory gives numerous random problems and others will nod their heads when I say this, it is possible that two motherboards the same one will accept, one will reject I've had it happen a couple of times.
  14. Your internet speeds aren't fast enough to pass the information by the sound of it, bandwidth goes down a lot if another person was using your internet at the same time, latency is the amount of time the information takes to travel the system. Simple test, play an older less graphics intensive game, then play your latest games, bet you don't get chopping with first ones - solution faster internet speeds if you can.
  15. Yes wise old words from a 'Southerner' in Darlington, a check on the internet often shows the same problem with other people, I hope it's that simple saves a lot of hassle, I hope they don't close your market FledMarshal I love the mince and dumplings from the butchers on a Saturday morning. But as I said before the computer is the last resort not the first in most cases, its usually software problems., I know its cold in Ohio at the moment, it is here in Northumberland too.
  16. Oh Oh remember hardware last? if you do pull the ram check that remaining ram will work in those slots, you need to read the mothernoard manual, I must admit I would suspect ram but perhaps look at other things first, a longshot but check the ram you got from your friend is compatible with your motherboard, and = (I hope I don't regret this) the bios is set correctly for the memory. IF YOU DO NOT KNOW WHAT I MEAN ABOUT THE BIOS PLEASE DON'T TOUCH IT.
  17. Does your son play on the same computer with the same link to the internet??, if not it could still be either, but presume your household has a network in which case yes your computer looks likely as you say, so yes try experimenting BUT WRITE DOWN EVERYTHING YOU DO and do one thing at a time, then if same issue persists restore it. I like to put things in simple terms initially, your picture is stuttering, so there is a bottleneck somewhere, or interference, stopping the information flowing correctly and fast enough to your picture. Now this could be a number of things, start with the programme itself then progress to the computers software and last of all the hardware. If you are unsure of what you are doing, especially if interfering with the OS or hardware then do not do it, better safe than sorry, do not touch the bios unless you are absolutely confident in what you are doing, remember one thing at a time if that doesn't work put it back.
  18. Firstly you need to narrow it down to 1/. Computer or 2/. Internet, i.e. does this only happen to gaming online or does it happen offline, the comments on the modem may be valid and you may want to check firmware/software. If computer the mostly likely culprits are the ram or the video card, if you can swap these out then fine, if not then it becomes a lot more difficult, if online then try turning off background programmes one by one. I had this years ago when the ram on my bang up to date video card was incompatible with the motherboard, fixed by a (very dangerous in those days) motherboard flash.
  19. Focus on drinking DeeJay never done me any harm - yet??
