This is kind of morbid but maybe we could check the obituaries from Winchester VA from around the last time we’ve heard from him. 
If we had just a few clues like first name, last name occupation etc. Do we have a picture of him?

Sad days watching our loved ones deteriorating!

I always have crashing issues when my sound screws up. I have an Arctic 7 gaming headset and it always screws up the files. When that happens I always have the COD4 crashing crap. 
As everyone says likely a sound issue.
