i think evry one who play with steam have the sam problem 

sorry guys, I think those of us with Steam (and downloaded the game instead of having a real disc) and COD4 are at this point screwed until at their end they upgrade the game BACK to version 1.7.  Some slacky on their end did not know that there was a version 1.7 and only saw it up to version 1.6.  What has to happen imho is a bunch of folks complaining to Steam about this and ask for them to PDQ fix it.  

That's what you lazy asses get for not willing to go to a store and buy a solid CD!

Yes, it seems as though they found a glitch (which allowed hackers to get into the hosts computer) and fixed it, and then "forgot" to put COD4 back to version 1.7, so for those of us with Steam (who downloaded the game instead of purchasing it at a store) now currently it is set at version 1.6.   I think it will take a bunch of us complaining (and hope that someone competent enough on the Steam end) to finally get this sorted.  Meanwhile, no freeze-tag for us, sad to say...  So, I am off to play other games...  

Did all that and still goes into 1.6 patch. 

Since playing that COD4 map (Bastogne) with the loud music, I liked the guitar licks in it and wanted to see what the lyrics were and find out about the song and HOLY COW it is sad    Cool song, but too loud in the game, but it is haunting and  artfully beautiful too.    Lyrics --> https://www.metallica.com/songs/25917/one      video  -->

I've been reading about this problem, and looks like when they did a fix (to prevent hackers from getting into the hosts computer), for COD4 they did not include it up to Version 1.7 .  "Apparently" someone somewhere has been informed of the problem.  Does that mean it will be resolved for us to be able to play COD4 multiplayer again?  We shall see... meanwhile though, no one is making any money selling us new games, so there is that.  (FOLLOW THE MONEY )

no i have just tried that and it still loads to 1.6
i am trying restore see what happens will let you know
 

my suggestion would be to uninstall in steam and redo it should do all patches for you
 

it should but its not. I played this morning no problems and now this

I started playing again after a year away from it, i had paid a shit load of money for this game and had not played any of the DLC's so i thought i would give it another go, i quite like the newer maps more than the originals, somedays i quite like the game and others days i hate it for all the old reasons  lol.

Always searching for the next really cool game I wanna play, there is a new Battlefield game coming out (rumors say late October, 2018)  this year.  Supposedly it is going to be based on World War 2.  Battlefield 2018 will be following in the successful footsteps of Call Of Duty: WWII,according to a new report from VentureBeat. The publication says the tentatively-titled Battlefield V will take the series back to its historical roots steeped in the grit and grime of World War II.

As far i played it, i like this game alot.  its old cod2 style with mw2 engine kinda thing. 
I love the guns and offcourse its shit we dont have dedicated servers but we know how that works now days for pc games. 
The fact we can add 6 people in a party is pretty nice, offcourse more would be better, but hey... like the graphix its pretty good playing on high also the FPS is very nice 119 fps while playing. 

Ok so, I played this game as much as I could find the time for, and as per usual, I love it and am looking forward to playing it over the winter as much as I can (get away with and get work done too...)  Yes, it is rather like cod 2, but better imho.  It is not perfect so far, I think that there were alot of bots playing and so the few of us who were playing were surrounded by perfect bots who didn't miss, didn't have to take time to learn a map, etc.  Once I figured that out, I did not feel so bad about my lousy aim and pitiful stats.  One rude gamer actually said to me in game "Majbasil, you need to delete this game from your computer."    Ouch.  Nevertheless, I shall persist and fight on.  Wohoo  

I've already logged 9 hours into it and it is pretty fun so far.   It is just a beta so i guess you can't expect them to have dedicated servers off the bat.  aside from matchmaking, and the 100 score limit i actually like this game surprisingly.

Well you definately HAVE to visit Québec city if you go in Montréal. It's around 3 hours drive only and you'll feel like being in France

Console players have had their fun, but now it’s time for PC players to get in on the action. Call of Duty: WWII will be getting a PC open beta starting this month.
Assuming the PC beta follows the PS4 one, we'll get to try the new COD: WW2 War mode.
 
  The open beta will run on Steam from September 29 to October 2. Sledgehammer say it’s just “a small part” of the final game’s multiplayer offerings, but it will offer PC players a chance to see how the game plays, while giving the developers a chance to test their infrastructure.
Sledgehammer also say that they’ll be optimizing the PC version based on feedback from the community, but based on the minimum specs they’ve just released I’d say they’re pretty confident with how the game will run on low-end machines. Maybe they meant optimize in more general sense.

Original Story, August 23: Call of Duty: WWII is getting a beta on PC... but we don't know when. Based on the dates of the console private beta, it'll be well into September, at the earliest.
Michael Condrey, head of development at Sledgehammer Games, confirmed the PC beta on Reddit with the simple words: "yes, coming." 
PlayStation 4 users who've pre-ordered the game will get access to a private multiplayer beta in two days' time, with Xbox One pre-orders getting in on a second wave starting on September 1. 
According to Sledgehammer, that beta will contain:
At least three multiplayer maps, including Pointe Du Hoc, Ardennes, and Gibraltar. War Mode - Operation Breakout Team Deathmatch, Domination, and Hardpoint game modes. Progression - players will begin at Soldier Rank 1 and rank up through a limited progression to unlock weapons, scorestreaks, equipment, and Basic Training Skills. The new Headquarters social space, ranked play, supply drops, and loot are all excluded from the console private beta. The PC beta will obviously be later, meaning we're looking at mid-September at the earliest, but there's a chance we might get some more content.
