Version 2.0 of Microsoft Security Essentials is out of beta and available for download. If you don't want to wait for it to come through the program itself or Windows update, you can update manually by downloading and installing overtop of the existing verion.

Version 2.0 has added the ability to set cpu usage during scanning(defaults to 50%),a heuristic scanning engine, network traffic inspection(only in Vista and 7) and Internet Explorer and Windows firewall integration.

I have been very happy with it for a long time now, have switched all my pc's over to it, and most of the ones I have set up for people, i have even went back and switched them over to it. Run it in junction with the free Malwarebytes, and spywareblaster. I do recommend changing the scheduled scan type to a "full" scan. it doesn't find much on the quick setting, even on known infected pc's, but the full will find it if it's there.

I agree, and I also don't want all my eggs in the microsoft basket.

Don't get me wrong, I am not a microsoft basher, but I would like other companies to live on.

Nice review Harry.  I just installed it on all of my machines too.  I had been using AVG on 2 of my PC's and Avast on another 2.  It looks like I will be using MSE on all of them now.
