Just exactly what is wrong with it.  Is this a hardware issue or a software issue.  Let us know what is wrong and we might be able to tell you how to fix yourself or whatever.

wont have any luck with the CD rom part cause my husband who should have known better he pulled teh CD rom out when it was ON and pushed it back in while it was on too... FUCKEN IDIOT THERE!

for a while when i would turn it on and use it just to check my gmail n facebook and IMs only then it would just LOCK UP and would have to cold shut down and let it sit for a while then turn it back on and it would be fine for a while again... Not a software issue cause i did manage to reformat it somehow even when i had CD rom issues due to what hubby did and the laptop still did the same stupid thing.

Now my hubby said when he tried to work on it from little knowlage on laptops. the screen stays black but you can see it flicker like power to it n etc. But wont go into windows user selection or loading screen... IF you "slightly twist" the laptop a certain way it goes all the way to user choice n etc.

its an Acer Aspire 5100 BL51

Well, The freezing is usually a cpu overheating due to dust in heat sink or to many things turned on when the system boots up.  You would have to go into config file and turn off some stuff in the startup tab or as stated in previous postby sundance, a ram issue.  The screen staying black is usually a back light problem but if you are twisting it a little and it coming on, then you have a ground fault problem. A pin bent or something when he removed the cd rom drive.  Especailly if the drive will not work at all.  Unpluging and plug a drive up on a laptop will usually not do much until you do a reboot for the drive to come back to bios.  I would almost think that a pin has been knocked out of place.  Look at the rom drive pins and take a flash lite to see if you can see the pins on the motherboard in the rom slot.
