Manned by military personnel, some injured in Afghanistan, the boat has taken three weeks to reach its destination."

Wish we were walking up the Mall Road about now.

Think I'll have to open a bottle of London Pride later.....

Well i'm not a Britt I'm from Alabama but i have to say that I love watching BBC America and especially Top Gear UK. The American version is crap in my opinion. Anyway been watching the boats go down the Thames all morning and everybody looks to be having such a great time regardless of the rainy weather. Wish I could be there in person to experience a one in a lifetime event.

I think you will find that British use of the music for the anthem followed that in the USA!

The BBC mentioned that the coverage was going worldwide so I am delighted that you got to see this amazing spectacle.

We were in front of the TV all afternoon - how fantastic was it!

ONE BILLION people celebrate!

Here's a taste of today's amazing spectacle in London!

At the same time that the bells in that floating belfry began to ring, others around our

country rang out too - here as well!

It was a great spectacle and I enjoyed every min my daughter was actually a marshall on the river bank I had to drop her of at 2am this morning to catch the coach to london..

She called me to say it was amazing..

I am Proud to say I am a loyal supporter of our Royal Family they are not just figure heads, they rise to the occasion when our country needs them in most major conflicts they are there from the Falklands to present day conflicts boosting morale.

Our Queen was in the thick of it during world war 2 helping out in the streets of London after the bombing raids... What ever the cost they are worth every penny ..

GOD SAVE THE QUEEN.

Diamond Jubilee river pageant's rousing musical finale

"The final vessel to reach Tower Bridge was Symphony, carrying members of the London Philharmonic Orchestra and the Royal College of Music Chamber Choir.

The singers got drenched by rain as they performed several songs to the Royal Family including Land Of Hope and Glory, Rule Britannia, and the national anthem."

British composer Thomas Arne (1710–1778) is the composer of the song (first sung in 1745). He also did Rule Britannia.

I think I got it right but who knows.

If I am not mistaken the original use of beacons was to warn of sighting an invasion fleet such as the French or Spanish. Not sure if it goes back to the time of the Saxons.

Well, what a memorable long weekend it has been but it is now drawing to a close.

Public events today, after yesterday's concert outside the gates of Buckingham Palace, have included a service of thanksgiving at St Paul's Cathedral,

a carriage procession and a flypast over the palace by the RAF in salute of our Queen.

Unusually, there was also a feu de joie by the guards below the balcony.

We now await Her Majesty's broadcast at 6pm, after which I shall bring in my Union Flag and go to a last celebratory dinner of this Diamond Jubilee.

Long May She Reign!

And that was the glorious spectacle of the Diamond Jubilee! I hope you got to enjoy it as much as we did here!

My wife took me out to dinner tonight to close our celebrations. We dined on...Chicken Elizabeth!

I'll leave you with the traditional Royal Marine music that accompanies the lowering of the flag at sunset...

It is called..."Sunset"! God Bless Our Precious Queen!

I was watching in the AM today when the queen went and stood at the balcony. It brought a tear to my eye to see everyone show so much love for her. Looks like the events were a success. Long live the Queen..... bless our friend in the UK

Wow, Fox Chicago showed a view yesterday from Buckingham up the Mall road. Solid people all the way to Admiralty Arch (& beyond, I'm sure). What a sight.
