Now it happens on every single map. I have done the following.... Rolled back audio drivers....(these are soundmax Microsoft version 6, made no difference as I'm running what the web recommends...) Updated video drivers...(previously I rolled these back to a much older version, and that helped for months, but no more) Renamed msmp3 file in miles folder from asi to bak All of these suggestions I found on the web, none of which work. I'm running an Asus ROG II Gene Mobo, with I7 cpu, 260 GTX vid card & 6GB memory. Anybody know how to fix? Drop me a PM or respond here.... Thanks... CRIMSON Awards

Unpluging the mic and pluging it into the front panel doing this or that might get you a temp fix but it is an issue with realtec sound chips and the sound files activision used in cod4 never heard of it in cod5 . Oh thats the other fix play WAW LordOfChaos 1 Awards

Really people does not matter what you do do not use your MB sound for cod4 really simple. Do that no errors. I do not care what you do after that for sound but I do promise your error will never appear again. As I said earlyer do this do that you might get lucky for a while it wil come back as you have read on the internet it ALWAYS COMES BACK. So to make another post irrelivant did you try taking your mic out of your rear plug and plugging it into the front plug ? LordOfChaos 1 Awards

Never a truer word said, this topic comes up at least once a week now, is there any chance we can have "sticky" for all the possible fixes then next time someone asks we can just point them too the appropriate place or copy and paste the fixes, much quicker then going through all the rigamarole everytime.

(I won't call it a cure yet...BTW I had enabled my stereo mix earlier that didn't work either) However, one intriguing suggestion that just doesn't make any sense is to make sure you have something plugged into the analog MIC jack on the rear of your PC. I thought I did, but it was actually an extension cable, as I'm now using a USB mic. So I found an old pair of sony headphones (earbuds would probably work) And plugged them in. Thus far I've played for 2 days, and only had one fail and that was during a map change. This has something to do with Realtek audio and the way the game controls that port. Bear in mind, I have also put in all the other fix suggestions as well, so maybe it's a combination, but until I plugged in, none of the others had an effect. FYI.... Yeah I did this SOB, all it did was take away a lot of the game audio, music and efx. I put it back after I plugged in to the MIC jack. I have many days off starting tomorrow, so I'll get some results. (Good or Bad) Thanks again for all the suggestions... Awards
