I'm losing network speed every time i re-boot my pc, like from 50mb downloading to 2mb downloading as per speedtest. Now i went to realtek and downloaded the new driver for my network adapter and it seemed to fix the problem right away UNTIL i reboot then for some reason im back to square 1 with the issue.

Any ideas or fixes would be awesome!!

thanks in advance

Reset your router/modem, sometimes when you reinstall or update drivers they dont like to get along on old settings, i try the good ol' unplug, replug method (just like the southpark episode) :P

yea realtek is kind of iffy ALOT of the time

Is this an integrated NIC? Add an external NIC, disable the onboard and see if the problem persists. NIC's are CHEAP as hell. You need to figure out if it's actually your NIC, your router or your modem.

how about what is running in the back ground. What is the CPU usage when you are doing nothing. Right click task bar then select task manager and look at performance.. what does it show. Should be 0 1 but not much more for a clean boot or even when doing nothing.

If it is more then you look at processes and show process for all users. Sort by CPU... see what bounces up and down. If again low on everything... then you are cool. If not then sort by memory... if you see a processes growing and growing... you found your problem.

If you know all this and have tried.. the just ignore. ;)

Reset your router

Remove any network devices between your PC and your router and connect your PC directly to your Router.

Check the network cable if it is damaged

Check your network settings. There might be a duplex mismatch: http://www.home-network-help.com/speed-and-duplex.html

Usually the card is configured to "auto mode" and this should be fine. You can play with the settings. See if it helps.

Can you try a Speedtest in your LAN? (From PC to PC)

Thanks everyone who replied, still having issues. Seems to go back to normal by disabling and restarting the Ethernet card or when i change a setting in the advance setting it will then reboot causing the card to work normally again.

Task manager/CPU usage is also useful for spotting malware and viruses. That brings another question for the OP, is your PC free of junk? I've seen malware and viruses consume not only CPU resources to the max, but also bandwidth. If something is hogging your bandwidth, you'll see a serious slow down.
