How long have you lived there?   You must be blind LOL.  At your age and your free time you should have found it.  Anyway as Bart said not enough $$ to get me out to California.  I would rather rot here in my shit hole state.  After all we have such great weather here.

Glad you asked it made it up to 18 degrees today with abundant sunshine.  Should warm up soon.  Thanks for your concern LOM.  Still better (not by much) than the bay area.   I could not leave this paradise for anything.

Which I guess explains why your profile says that you're from the "Shithole State".

The weather has nothing to do with my dislike of California...I was discharged in Oakland in 1968...During the cab ride to the airport, the piece of shit driver called me a baby killer and said I should have died there...Any other time I would have tore him a new ass,  but after thirteen months of Hell I just wanted to get home... :) :)

Bart, please do think Oakland and the attitudes of the 60's in any way reflect how most of California is today. Of all the fucking places they could have discharged you, Oakland was the worst. Berkeley is right next door to Oakland that that is the birthplace of the anti war movement during Viet Nam.  Berkeley is still a bastion of progressive hippy douche bags, but if you get away from the cities you'll find right leaning people that are just like anybody you would find in the heartland of the US. There is a guy that's trying to introduce a bill that would break California up into 6 separate states. It's been tried before and it will be tried again, but it goes to show you how many people who live here can't stand the way the state is being run.

Like I said, I can put up with a lot of shit for nice weather. Add deep sea fishing at my back door, and hunting and skiing in the Sierra Nevada mountains, I can't imagine living anywhere else.

I was reading about this just yesterday. Some folks just have that kind of luck, to have that kind of wealth land on their laps! "Lucky Bastards" as the COD2 phrase yells out!

And BTW, I'm glad you mentioned Oakland. It's now the most violent city in the US, beating out Flint AND Detroit!! Finally someone else has that "honor"!

I think the drop in Detroit's crime rate is due to the fact that the population has decreased by 50% over the last 50 years. I still wouldn't want to live in Oakland or Detroit. Wherever there is a lot of urban poverty there is high crime.

I still want to know where all of those gold coins came from. They were buried sometime in the mid to late 1890's and the face value of the coins was $27,000. Who the fuck had that kind of money back then other than a bank robber? That entire area was very sparsely populated in those days and most of it still is today. What a bitch to have that much money, bury it for safekeeping then die without telling a soul about it. I wonder how much Nazi looted gold is still buried around Europe?
