Behind him is a sign warning that people should not trespass on the railway (doing so is not only reckless but is also a crime). Unfortunately, there are several deaths every year of people who do not heed the warnings around railway lines. Railway platforms in the UK usually have a line painted on them behind which passengers are expected to stand so that they do not put themselves in danger when through express trains speed past. You can see the big yellow markings on the ground and the people standing beyond them. Thank you for the info DeeJay, train stations are not very common around my place...only about 100km away and not that style. Oh, and that map link was awesome....I was able to get right to street level and go around....so nice to see the UK...saved me a plane ticket! hehehehe -Shadow Awards

We're lucky down here as we have the UK's first high-speed service running Hitachi "bullet trains" named "Javelins" (for the London Olympics in 2012). We can be walking around London inside an hour! I find Google Street View useful, Shadow, if I'm going somewhere new and want to check out roads, car parking etc. Some people think it's intrusive so there are gaps in its coverage. Yes, beats a long wait at the airport whilst the volcanic ash clouds clear overhead here!!! Air travel into Europe could be problematic for years to come whilst Iceland's active like this and we're waiting for the big neighbour - Katla - to explode! Thank goodness for trains! Yeah...they have markings and signs, but you would think they would come up with something thats a little more of a deterrent while theres bullets zoomin by! lol California has plans for a high speed train due sometime around 2016...and there are people constantly throwing themselves in front of just the commuter trains around here.I'm wondering how many more will when that bullet arrives!
