Some states consider them a sawed off shotgun, so won't allow you to have one! But, you can shoot special .410 rounds that have lead disc's and backed with buckshot. Or you can shoot 45 Long Colt. Much more compact then any shottie, and you don't need to rack a round since it's a revolver! There is a Raging Judge... Same company, but the frame is almost 1.5 larger/thicker. Can also shoot the 454 Cassul round. Awards

Anything is better than nothing, specially if you keep it with you. But understand one of the most recent high profile shootings that illustrates what 7 rounds of 9mm does in the hands of a trained shooter at point blank range, and the perp survives. Back in the day when the wheel gun was popular, one round from a 357mag ended nearly every encounter, statistically the best one shot stop. The shottie is closer to the wheel gun then the hi cap autoloader. Ammo is a choice you make depending on YOUR circumstances. I live in a home made of concrete with hurricane glass and solid hurricane doors. My shottie is loaded with 3" 000 Magnum rounds. That's roughly equivalent to 15 38cal pellets in one round. One round will eliminate any threat instantly, no matter what the perp has in his system. JMHO. Oh! And hold on tight! It's a hell of a ride! 18" pistol grip NITEX Mossberg 500 Mariner. Awards

Where i'm from (Holland) there is no isseu with home defense guns. When there is an invader there are surtain this you do. 1. Put on the lights 2. Make sure everyting is cleaned up for him/here. When he trips your responseble. 3. Offer him some tee or coffee. 4. Rub his feet because it's a tough job what he does. 5. Help him carry out your TV and stuff. So he doesn't hurt his back. 6. Put some extra money in the parking meter so he won't get a parking ticket. If you hit a home invader here you can go to court and explain your self, the person could have mistaken himself in the house where he was in. And probable you have to pay him for damadge to his face.

Also many of the shotguns shown here may not be legal in NJ because of size or capacity. So you do need to check state law. Lastly and most importantly, if you are serious about this, I would highly recommend getting insurance. I use USCCA but there are others. Just to defend yourself from criminal and potentially civil litigation could ruin you financially. Get the shotgun to protect your life and the insurance to protect your finances. Awards

I personally own two 870's now that I'm retired; one is configured with old school police wood furniture, the second with a modern Hogue pistol grip and fore-end (both 18 inch barrels). I only carry/use slugs and 00 buck in them just like we were taught. Awards
