Ok im a total PC idiot and need a bit of help here, i think my son updated my game through steam, its on version 1.813620 and i think it was a 1.79 or something, no servers are showing in my list and dont know how to fix!!! Help a dude who has no clues when it comes to this lol

Isn't there downgrade servers in the public server list? I had a similar issue awhile back and I believe all you had to do is join a 1.8 to 1.7 downgrade server and it takes care of it. I could be wrong tho.

Yep, download the 1.7 replace the 1.8 and then LOCK that file in place it's all in the post, let me know if you have questions.

Make sure you turn off updates in steam,

Right click COD4 and disable updates there

I run my game without steam even though it's a steam game, 

Once you've updated the game to 1.7 and changed the .exe file make a direct shortcut to it

mine is "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Call of Duty 4\iw3mp.exe"

I found the game crashes less often and is less glitchy after doing this
