  2. Howdy folks just thought to ask if anyone has installed one before as I need to replace one and have never done so...I believe I have everything I need and am replacing (different brand) rather then installing Any unforeseen things I should know about or prepare for ? Will check for level outside and proper drain position inside...I seen some where they recommend 10ft of lines as to which the one here in place has maybe 7 at best Any who toss me any tech tips before I go for it...By the way I was given a estimate of $750.00 to install as a standard price but not use to paying as I have always done my own work Thanks in advance from one idiot to another

  5. Thanks for all of the ideas. We have decided on the name "Cool Change" for the boat if the deal goes through. Inspired by the song "Cool Change" by the Little River Band...most of you young whipersnappers wouldn't have a clue....lol We have bounced many of your ideas off one another and I appreciate all your input. So now we wait....for the oil samples to come in.

  6. Pulled the trigger on a new (used) boat on Friday. 2000 Sea Ray 410 Express Cruiser. Length: 45'-6" Beam: 13'-10" Weight: 21,000 lbs Twin Mercruiser 454 Mag MPI Horizon motors, 380 HP each Comes with it's own tow behind gas pump Have to get through a sea trial and complete survey. If all goes well, she'll be buffed and bottom painted and back in the water by the second week in May. Needs new canvas and a a couple of cushions that need some attention. Other than that she is in great shape for a 23 year old boat. Need to come up with a name for it. Any suggestions? If anyone is interested in a 2012 Larson Cabrio 857 we should have one for sale soon!

  24. No captains license required unless you are chartering for money and you are under certain tonnage. Some insurance companies will require captains sign-off, especially if you are jumping into a much larger vessel (which we are) or are first time boaters jumping into a large vessel. I have received three quotes from insurance companies and none are requiring captains training to move up, however, the captain that has been helping with our sea trials on the past two boats is a close friend and will gladly ride along and provide guidance if necessary. My wife and I have been boating since the early 1980's. We are well versed in navigating the river (and beyond), it will just help with some of the onboard systems and how they integrate with each other as much as anything.

  25. Its a very nice hobby to ride a boat but its also costs a lot of money just to run it. i have only a small pontoon boat with 60 hp outboard, . sucks 4000$ cdn a year .. with yours 45 feet wow you need a good budget!! Gaz , maintenance, marina fees , storage fees , insurance etc.. BUT its so good to cruise on water, its a freedom feeling!!
