LOL , my son that just got laid off from sumatoma rubber in the states just gave me a metric tape measure from his tools when he cleaned out his locker. First one I ever had or seen And I'm 72.3 points -
I had mine done 6 or 7 yrs ago, one eye is for close up and the other is for distance. Have not needed glasses since, don't like to drive at night though...3 points

Glad it worked out ok - better to see your culinary creations however - Now your life gets to be complicated - seeing clearly means you shouldn't look in the mirror - it can be scary - just ask @BUDMAN3 points

Great topic because so many of us end up here lol.2 points -
There's several types. Single focus, multi focal, Extended Depth of Focus, very new modular that can be flexed by your zonules to change magnification, attempting to mimic your natural lens, light adjustable lenses. Getting one lens set to nearer focus & the other to farther is called mono or mini-monovision. This can be done with either EDOF or single-focus lenses. Lots of choices. If one goes for monovision, the ophthalmologist will likely insist to wear contacts simulating the effect, to assess how one tolerates it. Join and follow reddit cataract surgery as one source of information. I settled on single-focus refractive design lenses...less to go wrong, mitigating problems with artifacts, halos, starbursts, glare, contrast degradation etc. Was strongly considering EDOF IOLs set to mini monovision, but didn't want the chance of aforementioned problems with the focus stretched...didn't want to chance binocular depth perception compromised by 2 different focal points of mini monovision. Didn't want modular, because more moving parts, more can go wrong. So, I went with quality single-focus lenses, both set to distance. Emulating your natural eye lens in design. Need light readers for small print closer than 12 inches; everything farther out is excellent. No glares, halos, starbursts at night, no degraded details, no possible compromise of depth perception. Everything crisp & clear beyond 18 inches to as far as I can see. YMMV. Plenty of research & due diligence to make the best informed decision possible for a permanent change to your vision is highly advisable.2 points

Ahh, so all of the above. Would you stay with monovision or set both to distance & use readers if you had a re-do?1 point -

Be interesting to if @Timmah! requires reading glasses? My brother-in-law just had cataract surgery last year on both eyes(one at a time) he chose the more expensive obtion! One eye(lens) for distance and one eye(lens) for reading. at least that’s the way I understand it. EDIT I may have this wrong! After doing some more research he could have gotten special lenses with multiple focus points. I’ll have to confirm because I’ll likely need them in the coming years. Apparently your brain makes the transition from eye to eye as required. Please correct me if I’m mistaken. weed1 point -

It's genetic; my mom had cataracts in her early 50's also. They're called posterior subcapsular cataracts. Can't recall any steroids or trauma causing these.1 point -

In reality though, we don't just use metric in Canada either, it's still a mix. In automotive design, it's metric, when you go buy lumber, it's imperial. Depends on what it is. Personally, I've always used imperial and to be honest, I don't even own a measuring tape that is metric. it's on my tool list but haven't the need yet. haha1 point

I'de like to know where the hell all of the missing 10mm sockets end up. I never loose the 3/8 and 7/16 sockets but every thinking time I need a 10mm socket, it's MIA.1 point
