As someone who has worked in IT for the VAST majority of their career, I can say I've seen some pretty messed up crap. All of that has now been eclipsed by your absolute failure to bring COD5 authentication servers back on-line after over six days now. Yeah, I get it, Sandy dealt you a horrendous blow, right? Wrong. You did that to yourself by failing to build data centers featuring a redundant architecture capable of ensuring 100% up-time throughout foreseeable natural and unnatural acts? Has 9/11 and Irene taught you nothing? Has Sandy driven the point home to you now?
Moreover, how is it that, after 6 days, you still cannot restore a backup onto another set of servers in a different data center? Does it mean so little to you that you are willing to just blow off a community of gamers, and yes even INVESTORS like myself, in favor of just sitting on your thumbs waiting to get back into your waterlogged data center instead of doing the right thing and seeking an alternative path to operational status?
And finally, what does this say about the IT management within your company. Do you really feel compelled to retain an IT staff who has so blatantly failed you? How is it that redundant architecture and backup facilities to mission-critical services fell off your IT staff's radar? It would seem as though they have FAILED to grasp even the most basic tenets of their profession.
Activision's conduct in this matter hardly reflects credit upon yourselves. Get off your asses, and get to work!
That is all.
