LOL the clock XRay!

I replaced the 2 Noctua 120mm fans for 2 coolermaster R4 120mm I had spared and it reduced the temps by another 2-3 degrees celsius...so 4.7GHz / 1.38 / 70Degrees max

Not bad for a $200 CPU!

Passmark CPU at 4.7GHz = 9266 pts...

My passmark 3D:

passmark 3D(1).jpg

Now, cable clutter galore (haven't had the time yet)

DSCF2946.JPG

This is a nice card, you need good clean power from the Powersupply.Seems pretty powerful. I'll need to grab a larger monitor, cause 1680 X 1050 is too small for a card like that...just for kicks, I ran Blackops (too easy to run) at ALL MAXED + 16 AA at between 130 and 175 FPS...

Also, a large case with lot's of good airflow is needed. (200mm intake in the front, plus the 2 X 120mm antec fans blowing towards the card, and a Noctua 120mm intake fan sucking-in from the bottom. There's 2 X 200mm exhaust fans on top, 1 X 120mm exhaust behind CPU cooler...

I'll take the time to manage that cabling, cause it looks like hell right now.

Holy smokes , thats a heavy score on passmark! Highest I have ever seen!

Thats some serious frame rates being pushed out there.

Recon a nice 27" monitor would do the job.

Man , cables everywhere lol you certainly have your work cut out haha.

Nice one , have fun.

Paul.

Oh and btw , if you change windows to basic instead of aero when you run the 2d graphics test it will proberly double your score.

My old 5850 hits over 1000 on the 2d test.

Thanks for the tip for windows...I got everything set to "quality" in the driver..and PhysX is enabled...apparently the score is not kept in database if Physx is enabled.

Vantage:

It's the first time I run it I think...not familiar with scores compared to 3Dmarks 06

Just thought I would check back in to see how your rig is running now mofo?

Really happy with mine , still running 4.6ghz at 1.36vcore. Think the thermal paste has bedded in now as the temps have dropped even more. Highest temp after 30 mins of prime95 is now 58 degrees! ( I added a couple of new case fans , a 120 rear and 140 top which has proberly helped a bit too)

Its been totally rock solid , no crashes at all.

Paul.

Prime95 is kinda old now :) I don't say it is wrong but look for "Intel burn test";

Link

/Edit: #Caution: IntelBurnTest WILL stress the CPU, North Bridge, Memory and other computer components to their highest extent! Make sure your system is properly ventilated and cooled!

Got my Q6600 running at 3,4Ghz again as it's getting warmer lately now over here.

Anytime man.

Not sure if the 2.5 is the last one, but you will notice the difference!

Prime95 is a "kid" compared to this one.

Ok so I downloaded it and ran it as it was , it was 5 runs , and the stress level was "standard"

Is this the best mode to run it in?

Seems a very short test too?

Max temp hit during the test was 61 degrees.

Cheers

You can set it on Maximum and Custom to see how the memory will do. Plus how many loops. Play a bit with the pulldown menu('s). Not sure if you can see how hot the NB will get, but yeap it will become HOT when you touch it with your finger.

Cool

Glad you've read my warning as I am also kinda reserved to give it a hard push :)

Standard test might be good enough though and if your games are stable (or your RAID if you have that).

I just ran it in high , passed fine , max temp 63 degrees.

I then ran a "maximum" test , let it run for 5 mins , cpu temp the same , not sure what else it was doing so stopped it there to be safe.

Recon the system is pretty dam stable anyway.

Well, Prime 95, although old by today's standard, is still a viable option...BECAUSE.. ON SANDY, I found that a stable INTELBURNTEST or a stable LinX can be deemed unstable by a Prime 95 run....I agree that Prime takes forever...

Now, the way I see it, is that I start with IBT or LinX and give P95 a shot...SANDYBRIDGE seems to be a little different "behavior" wize.

I run at 4.6 at 1.37V... I turned-in the GTX590 for full refund...this is a somewhat limited run of cards that are throttled to avoid overheating...the original driver was crap. The next one wasn't bad, but chokes the card...you still get a great amount of performance out of it, but it has WEAK Voltage regulation Modules (VRMs)....anyway, a few guys toasted their cards by overvolting, but quite a few got lemons also...I got rid of mine...right away...don't like the smell of burnt silicon in the morning...

The GTX 590 was performing like two GTX570 in SLI, which is pretty darn good..but it's build with a built-in limiter (OCP) that is controlled via software...my personal card was throttling a little bit....I seen it drops from 630mhz core to 554mhz and once at 405MHz....so you get a steady 200 FPS at max details in some games, then a "plateau" at 120fps for like 30 seconds or so..then I goes back up (to keep the temperatures in-check)....I know PLENTY of FPS, but throttling nevertheless...

MOFO doesn't like being a ginea pig or a BETA tester for nVIDIA...I RMA'd the card...now looking at options....

That's ashame , but hey if you aint happy with it you did the right thing!

What are you thinking then? Is it just a single card you are after?

Humm..

Things aren't pretty actually. The 570s are a little weak on the VRMs...the 580 is a nice card, but I'd like to go dual...SLI 560TI is a decent alternative, but the RED team's 6950s are great, run 2GB of RAM each...beating the 560TIs...drawing less wattage...

Speaking for myself , I am sure mofo is the same tho...

I have simply changed the mulitplier to 46 and set the voltage to 1.36vcore.

I have disabled all power saving modes , it runs at 4.6 permanently.

Well, honestly, I haven't disabled the turbo mode yet. Mine still "modulates" from 1600mhz to 4600mhz...for now, it seems alright...a lot of people actually run their Sandys like that...

For the GFx...I'm still tinkering...got my refund...reading, thinking, reading, scouring the net for rebates, best deals...
