I bought this setup... 2 X MSI GTX560 TI OC...it looks like this pic: I based my choice on this article from {H}ardOCP: http://www.hardocp.com/article/2011/02/21/msi_n560gtx_ti_twin_frozr_ii_oc_sli_review/ Quote: "Our apples-to-apples performance testing showed some rather large performance differences though, highly favoring dual GTX 560 Ti. We saw large performance differences, from 20-40% over that of a single GeForce GTX 580. These are significant differences. Considering the price is the same, it makes sense to get two GTX 560 Ti’s and get a free performance advantage compared to the GTX 580" Also, this vid from Overclock3D: http://www.youtube.com/user/TimeToLiveCustoms#p/search/3/cTQYtBaFPA0 TinyTomLogan scored 40 000 3Dmarks VANTAGE with a SandyBridge @ 4.7 with those 2 cards in SLI... It's the same score a the GTX590 I had paid $759 for... Now, I paid $254 each card, with a $15 mail-rebate (which I might never see LOLZ), a $10 pre-paid gift card, a copy of 3Dmarks 11 full, a digital download of Mafia 2 and a digi download of Just cause 2... So basically, $460.00 for the same performance as the GTX590 OCed I had... This card uses a non-reference circuit board, with Mil-classII components (Super ferrite chokes, 7+1 phases power design, which is better than GTX570...)...and the same RAM chips as the GTX480..this card can overclock to 1GHz (I won't even bother to try...) As I'll be gaming at either 1680 X 1050 (my 22" Samsung LCD) or 1920 X 1080 (my next LCD down the road)...The 1GB of vRAM is enough...I went with nVIDIA for the greater compatibility of games and compatible applications (CUDA apps)... Also, LOAD temperatures in the mid-60's (instead of mid 80's for HD6950 cards) and lower noise level (compared the HD6950 fans). Those card were also a good $40 lower than the HD6950s 2GB... See ya in game!!! Awards

ETA won't but until Wednesday I fear...I bought all kinds of things for the SAME amount as the GTX590...had to spend that store credit! I got a Logitech extreme 3D Pro flightstick (to play HAWK) for $31.96 instead of $45 Some SONY headphones MDR-XD100 studio monitors for $17.99 instead of $60 (for WIFEY) A Headset for my daughter that want to speak with me in game (BFBC2) A 50-disk spindle of MEMOREX DUAL-LAYER DVD blanks for $29.99 instead of around $50... Also, a ASUS Xonar DG (with HEADPHONE AMPLIFIER) for $14 after mail-in rebate.... Wasn't necessary, as the onboard sound on P8P67 deluxe is really decent...but for the price, and the AMPLIFIER...it's worth a try! Also, it supposedly supports EAX 5.0... Quote from BIT Tech: an a few Noctua fans for $16 each.... I like those "poo" fans...with them "Shit ALREADY hit the fan"...lol Really expensive, but really quiet, yet push good airflow... Awards

I thought I was bad haha. Mind you I am already thinking about a new case seeing as mine is a load of shite. Got this one in mind , full tower and looks pretty sweet - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-023-NX&groupid=701&catid=7&subcat=35 Click the pic for like 25 pics of it. Then of course the HD 5850 will need upgrading soon , it will be either spend £200-300 GBP on a new one or perhaps buy another HD 5850 for £100 and run them in crossfire. Not sure which way to go yet. Still trying to learn how to put pics in this thread or on this forum , gonna try again now. Hopefully they should show a pic of my rig , + wei and passmark. Edit , don't know what the fook I am doing wrong , please enlighten me how to put a pic in the thread instead of a link. 2nd edit , woohoo , think I have done it pmsl.

Yes I put a lot of cash in there, but my plan is to keep it the way it's gonna be for a good 2 years at least... For cases, have a hard look at coolermaster HAF series....HAF X, HAF 932 and all that stuff...the ANTEC DF-series are nice, but an acquired taste...for the LIAN-LI and SILVERTONE, they are expensive.... the FULL ATX towers are nice because they have a lot of clearance for long AMD/ATI cards like the 69**... I'm not sure I would grab another Hd5850...I was in the same situation with my STILL AWESOME XFX HD5870...I could've got a second one for crossfire...but if you manage to find a decent card USED for cheap, why not... The truth is: Crossfire is a lot better with the newer Hd69**-series cards than Hd58**-series... And Hd69** cards have a lot better tesselation performance than 58**..which really shows in AlienVPredator, HAWK and HEAVEN benchmark... I did pick nVIDIA on this one because PhysX-capability helps in benchmarks, also, nVIDIA has a better market share, and give money to game developers to optimize for their technology (TWIMTBP is an example " nvidia The Way It's Meant To Be Played)... AMD/ATI does the same, but on a smaller scale...no biggie...I like both companies.. Awards

MSi AFTERBURNER gives you whatever info you need on the in-game onscreen overlay... A quick test in Black ops seen the RPM on the fans of the TOP card from 1700 to 2600 rpm...bottom card from 1590 to 2250 rpm... Standard fan speed is 40%...I was playing BFBC2 at 1680 x 1050, 8X antialiasing, 8x anisotropic filtering, HBAO ON, all goodies on...I'm getting around 160 fps...max temp 65 celsius on top card...then I enabled VSYNC...temperatures dropped to 55-56..celsius... Only drawback to those cards, is if you intend to play on triple screen and / or at high resolutions (2560 X 1600)....then, more than 1GB per card might be helpful.... Again, in BFBC2, at above settings I was getting 650mb of video ram usage...so there is a little bit of "play" still. $230 per card is not bad, I get 20% to 40% more performance than a GTX580 (selling for $500) for $460 total...single card is always preferable I guess, in the big picture...and packs 1.5GB of RAM... Still, that SLI experience was flawless....no stutter, no game incompatibilities... I was a little worried at first...but it was unfounded... Awards

I re-read this thread just to refresh the whole ordeal in my mind. You were shooting for 4.6Ghz so you are more than successful. I started playing with some OC settings today, since I installed my Corsair H70 cooler. I didn't want to push too much with the stock cooler. I was torn 3 ways between the Thermaltake FRIO, the Noctua D14 and the H70. All of them are really great coolers.. but I went with the H70 after reading a billion reviews. Needless to say, I know almost absolutely zero about OCing. I did some auto stuff that pushed to right at 4Ghz stable, but all my manual stuff so far has been unstable after some time on high load. Oh well, I guess there is only reading stuff and DOING to learn. I can run 3.8Ghz with ice forming on the CPU with this H70 I am satisfied with the new cooler and will NOT be buying anything new to stick in this case.... for at least a week (although.. after seeing your rig.. I have found myself slinking around the Sandybridge 2500K ads in Newegg.. ya know a mobo and cpu would be all I needed to test an intel rig) Let me run away and play some games and get that thought outta my head!!! If I get a air conditioning unit for my computer room this summer, this setting could still be pretty good. but as warmer summer air is used to cool off components, efficiency of air cooling drops a little...gotta keep a good balance...and room temps at 25 celsius or below... I shot for 4.5-4.6 anyway. To be honest, the difference between 4.6 and 4.7 is pretty slim (400 points in 3dmarks VANTAGE)...I'll probably back it down to 4.6...just to save a few milivolts and degrees Everything below 80 degrees is safe( for sandy bridge...other CPUs are different, careful there!!!), but I like to keep things under 70 degrees...my 4.6 setting gives me that...(above temps were during stress test, max reached 73 celsius) gaming temps are a good 5 degrees celsius below stress test temps... @ BAMA: I hear you...this stuff is like drugs to me...now, I have to stop looking at computer parts sales and concentrate in helping others...my spending spree is over...
