Buddy of mine has 5 smart cars. As a hobby he buys them at auctions, rebuilds/repairs them and presumably will sell them. He's a good dude, knows his mechanics but the latest car he picked up has a blown air bag and he's going to swap the bag out of a parts car. We'd prefer to see him not blow his head off. He can't find a manual, no computer. Another friend ordered the manual on line and it seems to be a pirate copy of the dealers network, which, if it worked probably would allow the downloading of the manual. It doesn't. Does anyone know of a reputable manual dealer. Oh, the usual route Chiltons etc doesn't work as they don't publish a written manual or apparently software manual. My information is all second hand and I'm doing a favor for a friend of a friend, so feel free to correct me.

Thanks

Vic

Just make sure that you have had the battery unplugged for a while, find the airbag control module and disconnect from there first, with your head nowhere near the airbag!

Thanks appreciate both of your inputs. LOL

Still, I would like to find a real honest manual dealer online. ...I just read my last line sounds naive to me too.

thanks

They are not as scary as everyone says. IT IS NOT GOING TO BLOW UP IN YOUR FACE!! We used to set them off because we couldnt send them back under warranty cheap enough. It WAS A PAIN !! If you are scared =disconnect battery hold tight to the negative cable with one hand and hold tight to positive cable with the other hand--that will eliminate any capacitor charge. but i never have done any of that shit and i've replaced it all--seat sensors to side air bags.

which airbag is it? I'LL tell ya what u need --done a thousand of them
