Irine was classified tropical storm only 300 miles from where I live, aand having experienced a scale 2 hurricane a few years ago, as well as a class 4 MANY years ago, I can onluy say good luck mate, BUT in the US you will certainly not be out of electricity (2weeks), and water (1week) as I was here after Dean... About the only place where I think genuine concern is warranted are the coastal communities. Loss of electricity is only a minor inconvenience for most of us. If your electricity stays on sit in front of the TV and watch the weather people make news to enhance their own importance. Too often the weather people become fear mongers. Sailed in a 110' cutter/boat.... been through 4 typhoons on that ship. 29' seas cat 3... 30' seas cat 4.... and 32' seas cat 5. You have no idea how bad the 32' was. I was sure we were going to die. Captain got pissed at me for asking when we were going to call for help as it looked liked we needed it. "Hicks get back in the engine room!!!!!!" This hotel is not going nowhere... most will happen will be windows blows out on ocean front side and flooding to first floor. I just want see it happen. I have seen so much shit... this is exciting. Sorry but when my time comes.. my time comes... until then I will carry on. Land is way better than on a ship. This is going to be so fun. And I will be on the 10th or higher floor.
