howdy again,

i had the cable guy give me a new modem this morning as well he checked the connection and all cables are great and i have a perfect connection and it still did not help. so i have done to date ;

1. i reinstalled cod4 and patched it to v1.7.

2. i uninstalled PB, deleted all related files then i reinstalled PB with their pbsvc.exe after that i updated with pbsetup.exe i checked the pb dir in cod4 folder and all files are up to date (no need for manual update)

3. i uninstalled avast anti-virus with their clean uninstall program which leaves no remnant of the program or its reg entries.

4. i have no firewall at all

5.i uninstalled the lan card drivers and reinstalled them.

i don't know what to do nothing seems to work. i can play on servers that do not use pb fine, but pb servers will immediately will kick. and that is across the board not just xi servers but all.

those of you who are getting kicked are you getting a message on screen saying something like "service communication failure: pnkbstrB.exe initialization failed" ? i really need to know this i am seriously considering reloading windows. i am just that desperate at this time.

help,

Katana

p.s. i really really hate punkbuster

Is the PbB service disabled in the admin tool for services? I doubt it unless you did it yourself but doesnt hurt to look.

I dont know about vista or win7 but look in the admin tools under settings/controlpanel in XP. I assume those two are similar. Did you check if the appropriate ports are open in the router? Typical is 28960 for cod4. I think 20810 also.

I most likely will not catch you before you format but have you tried typing in the run command services.msc to see if you can disable it from there. Sometime when you uninstall a program no matter what you do there are always something left.. If you still cant get it PM me with a time and I can try and help...

I second the above.

Reinstall your OS.

You are doing everything but that. Do a clean install of everything. Your are going to waste more time trying to find out what is corrupt than if you just wiped it all and started over.

good luck katana...saw you yesterday tring to get in and BAM...pb'd again. i think was about 4 times in a row. Maybe try deleting all your mods and get em fresh. this is kind a unrelated, but maybe helpful.....i have been getting iw3'd when i hit the join game menu instantly, so I go to mods, click launch for mw2freeze...and no problem. At this point something like that cant hurt...can it?
