holly crap... better you than me man. that is way to much snow. then again one flake of snow is too much for me.

it is only going to be 63f tomorrow. Cant wait till Sunday.. back to 75 for a high. Now that is more like winter. lol

btw nice house and great cleanup work. I hope you had a snow blower.... that would be a lot of shoveling.

We got a little snow storm, here, in tropical Canada, a couple days ago. This a picture of a dick who was driving way too fast on the highway and ended up in a ditch, with a $300 ticket for speeding and a $180 tow truck bill ...50d5fb6f85cbc_dick.jpg

That's proper snowfall. Over here, the country is paralysed as soon as an inch falls. We don't do snow very well

as the really heavy stuff is quite rare and requires a certain wind direction to bring it in from Siberia and Scandinavia.

Coincidentally, there's a magazine article on the BBC News web site about the Big Freeze of 1962 that lasted four

months (I was 4-5 years old at the time and remember it well): http://www.bbc.co.uk...gazine-20785406

"Surprisingly", here in England, it has been raining continually for the past couple of days... I don't think we shall

have another drought in 2013! Flooding's really bad around Mikey1799's home area.

Is it true that you are obliged to clear the footpath (sidewalk) outside your property or the city fines you?

Yes, DeeJay, that's right, we are fined if the snow is not cleared in an timely manner. Within 24 hours following a snow event, I believe is how the city ordinance reads. Also, they say the "public" owns the sidewalks, but the property owner adjacent to the sidewalk is responsible for its upkeep and maintenance. So basically, the public, who owns the sidewalk in the first place, gets to sue the property owner for any calamity the befalls them while walking down your piece of the sidewalk. Stupid.

It has worked a different way over here with no legal duty to clear public paths outside ones property. If one does so out of a sense of public spiritedness, there have been suggestions that one could be sued if someone slipped and fell because the job was not good enough.

We have to pay the water companies to dispose of the rainfall that falls in the street outside our homes... Now that is stupid!

I live in Sun Prairie, Mot. And I got stuck in Indianapolis until yesterday thanks to the blizzard. I spent 4 hours removing snow last night. Thankfully my neighbor felt pity on me and came over with his snow blower. I had a 4' drift in front of my garage door and another 4' pile at the end of the driveway thanks to the plow. I have drifts in the back yard that go over the fence.

I know, right? Brutal storm! All the worse for you returning after it had turned so cold in the wake of the storm. :(

Totally stupid! We don't pay to deal with runoff water. Although I suppose the storm sewers' maintenance is just wrapped up in our ridiculously high property tax, so we get charged in some way. We do pay a per gallon charge for municipal sewer directly related to the number of gallons supplied by the water mains.
