Origin isnt capped far as I know, so the speed depends on your download speed I guess. Too bad it wasn't Bad Company 2, I have an unused Limited Edition of BFBC2 on disc :) that I could have sent.

I have installed the game last year in October or November (3 gig update), played the campaign and stopped playing. In February I started to play again and got 8GB of updates within one week. (2x4).

Sorry, but Origin IS crap. I baught the Premium upgrade last month. 6 hours for all addons! Each download started with 1,5 MByte (16 Mbit) and went down to 35-40KByte after ~90%. I have paused the DLs and performed a speed test. Result: 16Mbit. So it was Origin. I had the same problem with the previous updates too. :(

Your download speed is dependent on numerous factors.

* Your ISP.

* Your network hardware.

* Your software environment (other applications using network bandwidth).

* Overall connection speed to nearest CDN node (ping) .

Since these factors are unique for every user it is near impossible

to diagnose "why" you are getting slower than average download speeds

unless you want to start getting into packet captures and things like

that which are beyond the scope of this forum.

Since you mentioned you get better rates through other programs

(Firefox etc.), if I had to guess I would say the problem lies between

your ISPs network and the nearest Akamai server. Akamai technologies are

used for Origin's content delivery system.

I can tell you that Origin will use any available network bandwidth

while you are downloading a game. So my advice would be to shut down

any other programs that may be using up bandwidth (Skype, file sharing)

and try running your downloads when you aren't going to actively using

your PC.

Let us know if you have any other questions.

Regards,

EA standard reply ^^

I have full access to the network of my ISP as I am an technician there. ;) this is not the problem. The prob is the "nearest CDN node". In Steam I can select a download server manually. This would be a nice feature for Origin. But it's EA...
