Ummm...this is a recording from the satirical show "This is That". It's written and improvised by Oldring and his partner Pat Kelly. They skate on the border of reality and plausibility in a cutting satire of a radio news magazine so closely and ironically aligned to reality that their voice messages and letters from outraged listeners who think it's real is almost the funniest part of the show. It's easily the best comedy show on Radio, and I can't wait for it every week. http://www.cbc.ca/thisisthat/

On the other hand, crossed at Prescott, Ontario last year with a bunch of family in three cars headed for Upper Canada Village. The Canadian guards were friendly, smiling and congenial. The American guards were rude and condescending. I made the mistake of missing a sign at the bridge and pulling up behind the car in front of me on the way back, and got blessed out by the American guard for it - no need for that behavior.

I grew up along the American side of the St. Lawrence River and spent a lot of time in Ontario growing up. I feel a close friendship to Canadians because they've always been welcoming and friendly folks. Indeed, I feel more at home once I cross the river than I do where I grew up.

I cross the border several times a year to visit family and such. I have never had an issue. They seemed more interested in the fruit I was trying to bring back than anything else Lol..

Fruit and fruit cakes are always screened heavily at border crossings.
