finally got the time and the weather to get a bit of fishing in, went to the fox river here in town(Batavia,IL) and fished by the dam. got a couple nibbles and then snagged a 3 pound carp in the tail with my ultra lite gear with 6 lb test. thought i hooked a bass at first, but at least the fight was fun!

dont have a boat. but can catch them for shore or at some of the other dams here, sit/wade out in the river right in front of the dam and usually do pretty good with live bait. also killed the at some of the small lakes out here. just find a nice spot to set up, couple cases of cold beer and have a blast. kill them on chicken livers, here a pic of a nights work last year on a lake i use to live by, fillet them all up for a fish fry.

When I was a kid growing up on the Ohio river, we would wait for the winter floodwaters to recede then watch the ponds out in the river bottoms get smaller as the summer heat slowly evaporated them. When they finally got shallow enough there would be thousands of huge carp and catfish in a big mud puddle just waiting to die. We would go out in our shorts with aluminum baseball bats and put them out of their misery, then have piles of dead fish on the shore like 6 feet tall.  None of them were worth eating, but some of the cats were over 50 pounds with mouths big enough for me to put my head in.

Ah the good old days.

A bad day of fishing is better than a good day of work.  I'm hoping to get out this weekend and see if the Crappies are biting if the weather cooperates.
