Dont sweat trying to cram too much into boxes unless transportation is a problem. Makes them easier to move since they arent as heavy.

Dont load up a large box full of pots and pans so you dont have to move a 100 lbs box.

Label all boxes clearly including whats inside. Or at least label the box with a good and unique title with all the items on a master list. Making it all easier to unpack is just as important as packing.

Think about how you want to stack things based on how you are transporting them first so you arent spending as much effort that day doing it since you are pressed for time.

Make sure all breakables are wrapped up in paper and not squished in the box. Make sure they are always stacked on top. Label boxes accordingly.

If its a big move in a big truck get a dolly to move boxes.

Make sure you have straps to secure everything.

Dont load up boxes too high so you can still see out of the rear view mirror or you might get pulled over by a cop.

If any box has really expensive or irreplaceable items know where it is at all times so it doesnt get lost.

Oh and dont wait until the last day. Get stuff all packed now so the day before you move you will have a good nights rest for moving day.

After Sammy's post there is no more to say lol.

I will add a safety tip though.

If you load up your car/SUV with alot of weight it will change the handling and stopping characteristics so take you time on the drive. Stopping distances dependant on weight will be longer and cornering will be more unsettled if the load is weighty and tall.

Good luck!

The dolly is the most important as you can stack multiple boxes on it at once and speed your time up. Specially if you move very often or not.

also here in Washington state they have a law that you must have a netting over your load if it's not in a van. They can cost about 20-30 bucks or so! They are worth it tho as nothing can fall out!

If you do have a lot of boxes to move and many of them do weigh a fair amount maybe get one of those lifting support belts to go around your waist. I dont know what they are called.

Be careful not to throw out your back!   Never push yourself too far when it comes to lifting things.

I just moved a couple of months ago and found packing to be key. Start early and we labeled boxes by which room it was going to as we had movers do all the hauling and this helped so not to have the boxes all piled up in one corner. This helped how things were packed and even better, helped even more to settle in the new place.

Good luck.
